The Role:

As a Waste Water Adoptions Engineer, you will be responsible for liaising with developers and groundworkers to ensure that they install the adoptable waste water infrastructure to the required standards.

You will spend significant time out in the field, visiting developers to inspect and survey the sewers as they are laid. You will be responsible for ensuring that the pipes are laid according to the approved plans, identifying any defects, and ensuring they are rectified.

You will also be responsible for producing inspection reports and identifying any remedial works required relating to the adoption of the new drainage assets from the developer by Advanced Water Infrastructure Networks (AWIN).

In this role you will…

  • Provide support to the Head of Waste Water on all regional waste water adoption enquiries.
  • Assist in budget planning and forecasting for all waste water adoption activities
  • Ensuring activities and assets are compliant with all relevant legislation.
  • Leading on new assets handover, ensuring all relevant records, agreements and contracts are in place.
  • Attend the pre-start meeting with the developer and contractor prior to the commencement of drainage installation to ensure alignment with the requirements.
  • To ensure that site inspections and contractor checks are carried out in accordance with the Water Act, the latest edition of the DCG and AWIN requirements.
  • Carry out pre-maintenance inspections, provide snagging lists and carry out final inspections prior to final adoption.
  • To attend air / water tests on new sewer installations ensuring that they all pass.
  • Provide technical leadership and assurance for the testing, commissioning, and performance validation of wastewater assets, including sewers, pumping stations, rising mains and SuDS features.
  • Assist with the integration of new adopted Waste-Water assets into company GIS system.
  • To advise on engineering solutions with the developers when any complicated installations arise.
  • Liaise closely with ground workers and site agents.
  • To risk assess all situations on site so as not to compromise Health & Safety.
  • Assess new and innovative materials / ideas and implement and offer as a solution on site providing it does not compromise our position.
  • Develop policies and processes for adoption and ongoing maintenance of sites.
  • To help the Water Team on other water related activities as and when required.

You will need…

  • Experience of working in the water industry (in particular waste water) with a good understanding of the S104 Adoption process.
