Overview

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Junior SQL Database Administrator to join our IT Operations Infrastructure team in Ipswich, UK. This hybrid role is vital in ensuring our database systems are stable, high-performing, and scalable to support Gallagher Bassett’s critical applications and systems. You’ll have the opportunity to work in a hybrid or remote capacity, contributing to our IT strategy and helping us deliver exceptional service.

How you’ll make an impact

In this role, you’ll play a key part in managing and optimising our database infrastructure. You’ll ensure our systems are always available, secure, and performing at their best. You’ll work closely with other IT teams and business stakeholders to support integrations and ensure smooth operations. Your work will include installing, configuring, and maintaining databases, as well as monitoring performance and implementing improvements. You’ll also help us stay ahead by evaluating new technologies and contributing to our IT strategy.

  • Monitoring and improving database performance, including query optimisation and clustering.

About You

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in database administration, including SQL Server and SSIS.
  • Knowledge of clustering, availability groups, and disaster recovery.

  • A commitment to continuous learning and adapting to new technologies.
  • It’s a bonus if you have experience with large databases, highly transactional environments, or tools like SSRS and Power BI Report Server.

The Role

As County Network Operations Lead, you’ll take ownership of a complex, live operational environment-leading the performance of wastewater networks across your region. What You’ll be doing

Your role in a nutshell
