What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll be at the heart of the organisation’s data infrastructure, acting as the go-to expert for managing and maintaining the company’s SQL estate. From monitoring performance and troubleshooting database issues to supporting system integrations and data transfers, you’ll take ownership of keeping databases running smoothly and efficiently.
You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across the IT function including the BI team, developers and infrastructure specialists, helping to ensure data is accurate, available and performing optimally across the organisation. A big part of the role will involve supporting reporting and analytics initiatives by working with BI analysts and developers to ensure data is structured and accessible for business intelligence tools.
You’ll also be responsible for implementing and maintaining backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies, as well as carrying out performance tuning and query optimisation where required. Alongside the hands-on technical work, you’ll maintain documentation, ensure data security best practices are followed and contribute to continuous improvements across the organisation’s data platforms. Morgan Hunt are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading UK Government orgaisation who require a Cyber Security Architect to join the organisation in Glasgow on an initial 6 month contract basis. You will be responsible for ensuring the firms systems are secure, resilient, and aligned with national standards and best practice.
Please note this role falls Inside IR35, will require active SC clearance and will require 1 day in the London office per week. 700 per day- 800 per day (inside of IR35)
Key Responsibilities:
Define and lead the organisation’s security architecture vision, principles, and long-term strategy.
Design and review secure system architectures across complex projects.
Identify security weaknesses and recommend proportionate mitigations.

Strong experience in risk assessment, risk management, and intelligence-informed decision-making.
Proven ability to influence senior leaders and communicate complex security risks clearly.
Experience developing and implementing pragmatic security, privacy, and resilience approaches.
Experience managing strategic plans, tracking risk reduction, and adjusting delivery based on emerging risks.
Experience managing and negotiating third-party contracts with embedded security requirements.

There s no pressure cooker culture here. You ll be part of a delivery-first set-up with a smart-casual dress code where you re trusted to get on with things and do your job. You ll have the tools and support you need, without any of us breathing down your neck.
Sometimes you ll get together with your colleagues on-site in Bolton, but these occasions will be few and far between (once a quarter or so). The rest will be in the field, and you ll be reimbursed for your mileage and vehicle usage through a car allowance (paid monthly).
You ll also get the chance to represent our brands at trade shows and industry events, and we ll make sure that you re always kept up to date with product compliance as needed.
In an ideal world, you ll be happy covering cities such as Leeds and Sheffield, plus everywhere in between. But within reason, we re happy to compromise on this for the right people.
