Overview

At Gallagher Re, we’re looking for a Global Head of Reinsurer Management to lead and shape our reinsurer engagement strategy. Based in London, this role is pivotal in overseeing reinsurer relationships, driving market intelligence (MI) initiatives, and ensuring alignment across the firm.

How you’ll make an impact

You’ll play a key role in building and maintaining strong partnerships with reinsurers while supporting Gallagher Re’s position as a global leader in the reinsurance market.

Additionally, you’ll liaise with colleagues to implement sales-focused action items, manage executive schedules for reinsurer meetings, and serve as a resource for internal teams seeking additional capacity or opportunities.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Design and implement the Reinsurer Engagement strategic plan, incorporating the business needs of key stakeholders, focusing on strategic alignment, revenue growth impacts and client needs (direct or indirect).
  • Clearly define and communicate priorities for each relationship, developing comprehensive action plans and ensuring consistent follow-ups.
  • Monitor and document key takeaways from executive meetings, ensuring follow-through on action items and providing regular progress updates.
  • Partner with appropriate stakeholders to create content for strategy meetings.
  • Track and analyze reinsurer performance and review external messaging such as investor day topics to inform planning strategies and incorporation into action plans.
  • Provide support for revenue growth opportunities including more closely linking reinsurer appetite with placement needs.
  • Facilitate reinsurer surveys for use in internal evaluations and to provide reinsurers’ feedback to drive improving outcomes.
  • Oversee the advancement of reinsurer analysis tools and placement data utilization, for internal and external consumption driving dynamic responsiveness to reinsurer behaviors and more targeted placement and engagement strategies.

About You

Here’s what you’ll bring to the role:

  • A university degree in Economics, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in insurance/reinsurance, financial services, or strategic research, with a strong preference for reinsurance experience.
  • Proven track record in managing reinsurer relationships and leading business intelligence initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance structures, capital markets, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with C-suite executives and external stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset, strategic thinking, and a passion for innovation.
  • Must be based in London or willing to relocate.

Background

This exciting role sits within the Technology team, supporting the Client Group / Distribution function.   • Design end-to-end solution architectures that meet business, technical, and security requirements.

Key Experience:

  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and senior-level communication, including C-suite.
  • Proven experience in client-facing and/or consultancy environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business and functional requirements into scalable and resilient technology architectures.
  • Strong track record in designing and delivering end-to-end data and application architectures in enterprise settings.
  • Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical architecture modelling.
  • Deep understanding of large-scale, distributed systems and integration patterns.
  • Ability to design solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements, including performance, scalability, security, and compliance.
