Role Purpose:
Responsible for the safe execution of a portfolio of concurrent projects for various Rolls-Royce sites. As part of the role you will ensure that the projects are delivered to meet Integral & Rolls-Royce’s standards in regard to health, safety, quality, cost and programme, whilst complying as a Principal Contractor with current CDM legislation. What you will be doing
* You will have responsibility for the execution of projects with potential values between £50k to £15m, across various Rolls-Royce sites in Filton, Bristol.
* Manage the projects in accordance with the requirements of the NEC3 Framework Contract and ensure projects are delivered to the agreed contract programme.
* You will provide Health and safety leadership to your site delivery teams (including sub-contractors and suppliers), promoting behavioural safety improvements, ensuring our suppliers, sub-contractors and direct workforce follow company policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Quality Assurance and Engineering standards.
* Support the project risk management process and ensure effective controls are established to ensure the safe and timely delivery of the projects.
* Play an active lead in the production and risk management of quotations and estimates.
* Promote and maintain effective client/stakeholder relationships to protect and enhance the company’s reputation at project level.
* Provide coaching, mentoring and development support to direct reports and trainees.
* Work closely with the Senior Design Manager to ensure robust, workable economic and constructable designs are produced.
* Support project opportunities where identified, to realise, maintain and improve the commercial project performance.
* Liaise with the Rolls-Royce Project Managers to ensure that the projects are managed in compliance with MS18, CS06 and the current delivery programme and cost plan.
* To enhance the strength of contract delivery to ensure highest standards of quality are maintained in accordance with programme delivery - complying with relevant British Standards, codes of practice and Rolls- Royce Standards.
* Ensure projects are completed snag and defect free.
* Ensure that post completion deliverables such as final accounts and Operation & Maintenance information is delivered within the contracted timescales.
What we will need from you
* Proven and demonstrable experience in the role of a Senior Project Manager within the main contractor civil engineering industry (essential).
* Experience of working on Civils or Building projects within the Nuclear/Defence/Aviation industry and therefore familiar with working within these environments (highly desirable).
* You will be required to achieve SC level security clearance.
* Experience in the use of NEC3 Contracts (essential)
* Experience of managing health and safety procedures along with knowledge of H&S standards/regulations across multiple sites (essential).
* Experience in the preparation of quotations and estimates (essential).
* City & Guilds /NVQ (or equivalent) construction related qualification (essential).
* SMSTS, JIB/BESA, CSCS Card, First Aid (essential).

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead the Branch’s contribution to delivering Nuclear Services task orders, ensuring strategic objectives are clearly defined and aligned with Nuclear Services, EPRE, and licensee goals. The Branch comprises multiple disciplines, including Radiological Consequences, Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA), Severe Accidents, Dosimetry, Shielding, Internal and External Hazards. The teams within work across the full breadth of the nuclear lifecycle. Priorities will be communicated effectively to ensure clarity and focus across the team. A key part of your role will involve influencing and negotiating with senior internal and external stakeholders to support successful outcomes.

You’ll develop and manage relationships with regulatory bodies such as the ONR, building trust and maintaining open, professional dialogue. Alongside this, you’ll oversee the Branch’s budget and cost control, ensuring accurate reporting and efficient use of resources. You’ll also be responsible for creating and delivering short, medium, and long-term (rolling 5-year) business plans to guide the Branch’s development.

Who you are

You’ll bring strong knowledge of nuclear plant design—whether under construction, operational, or undergoing defueling within the UK—alongside a solid understanding of UK-specific legislative requirements, including Nuclear Site Licence Conditions. You’ll hold a degree in engineering or a relevant science discipline and be familiar with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.

You’ll have proven experience in leading teams and managing budgets, with the ability to guide projects through change in evolving environments. You’ll be confident working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams, able to assess a wide range of technical issues quickly, and make sound, evidence-based decisions. Your ability to clearly communicate strategic or project recommendations to senior leaders will be key to your success.

What you will be doing…

The Construction Delivery Lead takes responsibility for activities in the field relating to the construction of a designated section of the works and its on site facilitation.  Managing and supporting a team of Construction Delivery Managers. To provide day to day on management of site activities, providing direction and monitoring of activities on the site, and providing and validating input into planning the site and the works in a way to most safely and efficiently deliver the project.

  • Provide support to the Construction Delivery Managers by recommending temporary measures to mitigate against safety and/or quality concerns. Follow up by taking appropriate and proportionate action (e.g. issue communications, call meetings) to avoid the cessation of works. This includes, but is not limited to, review of documents, assurance audits, etc.
  • Drive works on site and ensure contractor performance is in line with the agreed programme. Escalate concerns to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager and provide solutions to recover/mitigate, following dialogue with the contractor.
  • Proactively communicate/co-ordinate with site functions (H&S, quality, surveillance, commercial, project controls, logistics) and Construction Delivery Managers to maintain good communication links, and ensure activity is well and timely reported. This will also include regular attendance at pre-start briefings and supporting the delivery of key messages to the contractor’s organisation.
  • Organise and conduct PLOD/PLOW meetings with the contractor, ensuring outputs are recorded and issued to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager.
  • Undertake and record safety and/or assurance inspections that support the project HSPI’s.
  • Ensure clear, two-way communication with the Senior Construction Delivery Manager so that all activities and issues are directed appropriately.
  • Work closely with the contract PM’s to provide support and guidance for responses to contractual correspondence.

  • Conduct process validations and establish process controls to ensure product quality and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including process maps, routings, and work instructions.
  • Provide technical support and training to production personnel as needed.
  • Provide technical support for quotation development as required.
  • Provide technical support for completing contract review process as required
  • Act as deputy to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and components.
  • Experience with process design, optimization, and improvement.
  • Experience with quality management systems, including ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong understanding of APQP and FMEA methodologies
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Familiarity with 5S and lean principles, with the ability to apply them in a manufacturing setting
