We are currently recruiting for two Project Engineers to join us at our Skelmersdale site within our Muller Milk & Ingredients business. Due to the nature of the role, some travel will therefore be required and a UK drivers licence is essential.

The purpose of a project Engineer within Muller is to deliver best in class engineering projects to support the goals of the business vision in alignment with the OGSM strategic plan. You will be delivering engineering projects on time, in budget to a high quality standard.

As Project Engineer, the key responsibilities will include:

  • Play an active part in continuously improving our systems and business and support improvement activities/events within all areas.
  • Have awareness of Total Cost of Ownership to deliver the appropriate fit for purpose solution.
  • Ensure project budgets are closely controlled ensuring forecast spend is apparent at all times from concept to closure.
  • Coaching and mentoring of site leadership teams with overall end to end management of minor capital projects.
  • Management and adherence to the Muller project management process and investment process for technical investment within the Muller Group (major capitals and minor in non-manufacturing environments)
  • Ensure all project completion and handover documentation are submitted to the relevant site teams.
  • Support the wider project team to deliver the OGSM of the business.

Multi-Skilled Engineering Technician

We are currently recruiting for a Multi-skilled Engineering Technician at Müller Milk & Ingredients in Bridgwater. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and improving a wide range of equipment and systems across the site.

What We’re Looking For:

Role Summary

Within this role, you will lead on the implementation and management of effective project controls measures relating to scope, cost, time, risk and quality. Day to day you will work closely with both Project and Programme Managers whilst leading a team of project controls professionals. Responsibilities

  • Establish/maintain or adhere to the specific PC governance, processes and procedures across the project and in accordance with the related customer contract (where relevant).
  • Establish the Performance Measurement Baseline position in terms of scope/cost/schedule and the ongoing governance control of these.
  • Manage scheduling staff to develop, manage, revise, and analyse integrated project schedules including all phases of project execution, including contract partnerships and relevant sub-suppliers.
  • Undertake, or manage project controls staff to provide, cost management/change management/risk & opportunity management and document management provision.
  • Provide regular management reporting both internal and external to the project to provide relevant, accurate and reliable information on the status and forecast of the project to enable project and programme manager to make informed decisions and provide an accurate view of the project status.

Summary

An opportunity has opened for a Project Manager, with in our SSE North Scotland business, to lead a number of projects installing and constructing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 11kV to 132kV in a manner that delivers safe, profitable, timely, high workmanship quality and fit for purpose networks for the customer and which promotes the company in a positive light at all times.

The successful candidate will provide the overall management of a number of diverse electrical network projects running concurrently. These may include the installation of ground mounted and structure mounted power system components, cable systems, switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels and associated equipment in substations operating at up to 33kv and occasionally 132KV. They will be responsible for the resourcing and management of small and large site teams, liaison with other Freedom Project Managers to secure resource and the interface with our client. Some time will be spent on site in various locations throughout the northern half of Scotland including all islands.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager, the senior project manager will lead multiple project managers and teams and execute duties in a professional manner to build team and customer confidence and thereby contributing to the promotion of Projects Business growth. First line problem solver.
  • Provide the leadership, drive, discipline, and support of the Project Managers and the teams through direction, guidance, advice, support, commitment, effort and dedication as required to direct reports, other team members and customers.
  • To work within all set procedures and to ensure Health and Safety is the most important element in this regard. Undertake the site supervisor role when required, in accordance with the CDM regulations as required - this may include the control of Customer appointed contractors and/or company appointed sub contract labour.
  • Efficiently execute the project management role on a number of projects running concurrently while managing their team of Project Managers. Oversee the tasks and task types allocated to others in a diligent manner in pursuit of effective project delivery. Appraise direct reports regularly in order to develop them, increase skill range, knowledge base and performance in the process.
  • Resource control. Undertake the organisation, control and deployment of materials/equipment/labour resources for upcoming works on a range of projects running concurrently.
  • Good commercial awareness and completion of valuations against a set scope
  • Keep safe and maintain all company property issued, ensure it is routinely PAT or calibration tested and bring to the company’s attention any items that are not of a serviceable nature in a timely manner.
  • Production of as built records, test results, updated drawings and reports for projects.

What we’re looking for:

  • HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering (and / or time served)
  • Good operational knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Site safety passport and/or experience of working on CDM sites.
  • SSSTS OR SMSTS is desirable, not essential
  • Possession of SSE DNO authorisation to receive and cancel PTW (or alternative equivalent DNO authorisation i.e. SPEN, NPg, UKPN).
  • The candidate must be based within Scotland though geographically that can be anywhere and must be able and prepared to travel within all of Scotland but particularly from Perth and above including all Islands.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the central Manufacturing Services team in Civil Aerospace Manufacturing Operations.

The primary purpose of Manufacturing Services is to maintain safe, capable, compliant and available assets to minimise customer disruption and maintain a safe workplace, therefore playing a critical role to the success of the organisation.

Within the central team our role is to enable functional capability to deliver operational excellence through the lens of people and organisation, business processes and tools, systems, service contract delivery, and improvements.

As a Manufacturing Services Manager within the central team you will:

  • Collaborate across business and functional boundaries at all levels of the organisation to deliver objectives.
  • Have responsibility for developing and delivering functional strategies.
  • Identify and build upon current best practice to design, develop and deploy processes and standards.
  • Promote and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

General accountabilities include:

  • Implement the Company Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policy in all aspects of Manufacturing Services, understand and deploy legislative requirements and HSE Management and Control Standards through effective communication, processes and actions that support safe and compliant workplaces and equipment.
  • Use deep knowledge and understanding of external commercial, compliance and regulatory factors, in the context of maintenance and inspection, to develop best practices and improve processes and/or services.
  • Develop specialised depth and/or breadth of expertise in Manufacturing Service technical competences and service lines, with particular focus on areas of defined responsibility to provide support to the business teams.
  • Understand the IT systems we use to drive our management and leadership activity. Competent in the use of tools to manage Manufacturing Services performance. Can communicate using digital tools, with the ability to communicate a wider digital strategy.
  • Actively seek out industry best practice in the use of innovation and technology to support development of future Manufacturing Services strategies.
  • Solve complex problems and influence the way others solve problems in their specialism; use advanced analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions.
  • Communicate difficult concepts and influences others including internal and external stakeholders and customers/suppliers to achieve required outcomes.
  • Identifies, develops and shares best practice across organisational boundaries to support continued improvement of functional capability to achieve operational excellence.
  • Collaborate effectively with others, using influencing skills and networking ability to achieve objectives and gain buy-in from wider business to implement and sustain new standards, processes and ways of working.
  • Provide technical coaching, leadership and direction to teams within Manufacturing Services.
  • Support procurement and financial processes associated with areas of responsibility. This will include representing Manufacturing Services in commercial activity and managing relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Implement and lead global Communities of Practice to support best practice sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project or service objectives within and outside their own team; work is guided by the policies of their business and/or function.

  • Engineering - Process, Machinery and Functional Safety, Asset Management/ Asset Lifecycle Management, Technology
  • Digital Solutions / IT - Reporting, CMMS, Technology
  • Assurance - Compliance, Investigations
  • People Capability - Skills, Training, Development
  • Processes and Standards - Design, Development, Deployment, Sustainment
  • Risk - Management, Reduction

Preferred Requirements / Experience:

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Breadth and/or depth of expertise in Manufacturing Services technical competences.
  • Strong understanding of legislative health and safety requirements relevant to maintenance and inspection / asset management.
  • Good working knowledge of CMMS systems and digital tools e.g. IBM Maximo, Microsoft Power BI.
  • Knowledge, experience and/or qualifications in Process, Machinery and/or Functional Safety.
  • Can demonstrate strong programme management skills having led transformation projects to deliver business requirements.
  • Is familiar with continuous improvement methodologies such as six sigma and lean (Green and/or Black Belt desirable but not mandatory).
  • Proven track record of delivering business results.
  • Can demonstrate strong corporate and leadership behaviours.
  • Can communicate and influence effectively at all levels both in, and external to, the organisation.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with an extended network to create positive working relationships.
  • Ability to work well within a small, remotely based team.
  • Is self-motivated and driven to achieve high quality results.
  • Takes responsibility for own development, with particular focus on their leadership and technical skills. Has attended relevant leadership development programmes.
