The Systems Engineering Team:

We are looking for experienced and dynamic individuals to step up and provide coordination and strategy for execution of the systems engineering on one or more projects. This role will provide support to the functional department and projects through work package scope, scheduling, resources and strategy for the project systems domain. Your role will include working with Engineering Project Managers to broadly understand the near-term work planned (3mth – 6mth) and longer term work planned (18mth – 24mth). The Director Clinical Operations Lead is accountable for the development of the operational strategy for a clinical study(ies) and/or a clinical program (s) as well as the end-to-end study management and delivery of all operational activities and budget management relating to assigned clinical study (ies)/program(s). Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Clinical Operations Strategy: Design and implement operational strategies, study management plans, and supporting documentation to drive study efficiency and quality (most complex studies). Continuously assess and improve clinical operations processes. Provide early input in CDP and study outline.
  • Project Management & CRO oversight: Lead cross-functional study teams, coordinate with functional area representatives, and ensure timely execution of all study-related activities. Responsible for vendor selection/management/oversight, issue escalation, and inspection readiness.
  • Stakeholder Management & Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration among internal and external stakeholders (including vendors, investigators, and regulatory authorities). Act as the primary point of contact for all study-related matters, build and maintain strong relationships, mentor and support team members, and represent the study team in communications with senior management. Act in an advisory capacity to other clinops colleagues and ensure knowledge sharing across therapeutic areas. Be the clinops voice at PST/TALT.
  • Budget Forecasting and Performance Management: Forecast, manage, and report on study budgets and key performance metrics, including study start-up, enrollment, and data collection timeliness/quality. Engage with key project stakeholders, including GPLS, TALT leads, Finance, POE. Drive accuracy and reliability in terms of budget.
  • End-to-End Clinical Study Management: Plan, manage, and execute our most complex global clinical studies from protocol development through to Clinical Study Report (CSR) completion and Trial Master File (TMF) archiving. Oversee timelines, budgets, regulatory/GCP compliance, feasibility, country strategy, enrollment plans, and risk mitigation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact both internally and externally (e.g. vendors) as applicable for anything study/program/asset related.
  • Provide regular study status updates including critical issues to senior leadership as needed while providing support to the study team with stakeholder management and issue escalation. Portray strong and confident communication and presentation skills. Audiences will include those both internal and external partners.
  • Support audits/inspections and resolutions of findings.
  • Contribute to the leadership of the Clinops function in key areas of change and continuous improvement. May be asked to lead cross functional change initiatives. Job Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Education

At minimum, bachelor’s degree or equivalent in life science, nursing, pharmacy, medical laboratory technology, or other health/medical related area preferred.

Other degrees and certifications considered if commensurate with related clinical research experience (e.g., diploma or associate degree RN, certified medical technologist).

Experience

  • As a guide, a minimum of 12 years’ relevant clinical research (or related) experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Previous experience in leading and managing a team of professional staff.

I’m working with a well-established UK technology company based in Stockport that is looking for an experienced, hands-on Software Team Leader to take technical ownership of their core software and lead a small, highly skilled development team.

This role suits a senior C++ developer who still enjoys being close to the code, but also wants responsibility for technical direction, delivery, and mentoring.

The Opportunity

You’ll lead a small team of software engineers responsible for developing and maintaining PC-based software. Working closely with sales, marketing, customers, and senior management, you’ll help define specifications, design new functionality, and deliver robust, high-performance software solutions.

This is a genuinely hands-on leadership role, combining technical design and development with team leadership, planning, and stakeholder engagement.

There is also the opportunity for occasional UK and international travel, should this be of interest.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and mentoring a small software development team, setting coding standards and leading by example
  • Designing and implementing new software applications and features in modern, object-oriented C++
  • Working with sales, marketing, and customers to agree specifications and translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Designing systems using UML to maximise efficiency, maintainability, and code reuse
  • Maintaining and enhancing existing software, resolving defects and technical issues
  • Planning, estimating, and overseeing project timescales and delivery

Technical Environment & Experience

Strong experience in:

  • C++ / STL development for Windows PC applications
  • Embarcadero C++ Builder (preferred) or Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Object-oriented design and modern C++ standards (C++17 or later)
  • Multithreaded and asynchronous programming environments
  • Designing clean class hierarchies and reusable software components

Knowledge or experience in any of the following would be beneficial:

  • Image capture and image processing systems
  • OpenCV (including pixel correction, lens distortion correction, and flat-fielding)
  • Industrial cameras (Basler, Teledyne Dalsa, line scan and area scan systems)
  • Pylon API, ImGui, PostgreSQL / PQXX
  • Database design and SQL
  • UML modelling tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect
  • Software version control and issue tracking systems

What They’re Looking For

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline
  • Around 10+ years’ post-qualification software development experience
  • Proven hands-on C++ expertise with a strong focus on code quality and architecture
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising other developers
  • Analytical, methodical approach to problem solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Clean driving licence and passport with no travel restrictions

A Sytems / Software Support Manager is sought by an expanding Engineering company to lead their Support function for class-leading software systems for the Energy sector

Your key responsibility will be to ensure the seamless operation, support, and upkeep of our software and hardware systems. serving as a critical point of contact for troubleshooting, maintaining service levels, and coordinating with various teams to resolve issues promptly.

The role carries with it a mix of hands-on and strategic responsibilities designed to enable the growth of the support function as the company’s customer base continues to grow. These will include: -

  • Act as the primary point of contact for support requests, triaging incoming issues, prioritise based on urgency and impact, and assign tasks to the appropriate teams.

To succeed in this role you will need a good background in Software Systems and have a HNC or higher in a relevant field (Information, Technology, Electronics, Controls Systems or Electrical Engineering preferred). You will need proven experience in a support or maintenance coordinator or management role and have a strong technical aptitude with familiarity in systems maintenance, electrical engineering, IT support, or similar domains.

Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential as is a proficiency in using support ticketing systems and project management tools. Exceptional communication skills are essential. Good data analysis skills would be beneficial as would experience of supporting software with an engineering based application. Strong attention to detail with a customer-focused attitude is essential
