This means you develop your skills in a real working environment from day one and are able put the skills you learn at college, directly into practice at work.

Do you want to kick start your career in engineering and be part of the future of modular construction?

Are you excited by the idea of building full plantrooms, pipework assemblies, heating systems and mechanical modules inside a world class manufacturing facility?

Do you want hands on training in how mechanical systems are built, tested and delivered for major UK projects - all while earning at the same time?

If this sounds like you, join NG Bailey’s Offsite Manufacture (OSM) team at our industry leading facility in Oakenshaw. Here, we build prefabricated plantrooms, risers, skids, bracket systems and mechanical modules that go straight to projects such as hospitals, energy centres, data centres and major infrastructure schemes.

A typical day is practical, varied and hugely rewarding. You’ll work alongside experienced mechanical engineers and fabricators, learning how modular mechanical systems are built from the ground up in a safe, modern factory environment.

As an NG Bailey apprentice you will:

In your role you will:

  • Install mechanical pipework systems used in heating, cooling and ventilation.
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings, layouts and module build information.
  • Assemble pipework, valves, brackets and equipment used in plantrooms, risers and skids.
  • Use hand and power tools such as pipe cutters, crimpers, drills and measuring tools.

  • Work safely in a busy manufacturing environment, understanding lifting, handling and installation processes.
  • Build complete packaged solutions that are shipped as finished units to construction sites.
  • Take part in on-site training and shadowing, giving you first-hand experience of how our modules and mechanical systems are installed on live projects. This will involve travelling to different sites, so you develop a complete skill set with no gaps.

This is mechanical engineering you can see - everything you build in the factory becomes a real part of a building.
