TECH-AGNOSTIC ROLE

Data Architect - Opportunity to Shape a Growing Data Function

I’m working on a Data Architect hire with real influence as an organisation continues to build out its data capability.

This role is focused on strong fundamentals in data design and modelling, rather than years of title. They’re looking for someone who understands how to structure and govern data effectively over the long term.

What they’re looking for:

  • Strong experience in data modelling (3NF highly desirable)
  • Good understanding of data architecture and governance principles
  • Experience working across multiple systems and methodologies
  • Comfortable working in a tech-agnostic environment
  • Exposure to tools such as Erwin, Sparx or Collibra
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

The role is weighted towards soft skills (around 70%), alongside hands-on design thinking. You’ll help shape architectural direction, working closely with delivery teams while providing oversight on standards and approach.

There’s a focus on building towards a centralised data platform, offering the chance to contribute to something still evolving.

This won’t suit someone looking to move directly from Data Engineering into architecture - they need someone with proven experience applying core design principles.

Location: Hybrid, 2 days per week in office (some flexibility possible)Salary: £65,000- £75,000

Benefits include:

  • 30 days annual leave
  • Up to 14% employer pension contribution
  • Life assurance (4x salary)
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Wellbeing support and Perkbox
  • Subsidised on-site restaurant
  • Season ticket loan and cycle to work scheme

Process: Competency-based interview with a mix of structured and informal discussion.

If interested, or you know someone suitable, feel free to get in touch.

  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Proven experience working in a data architecture role
  • Hands-on delivery of robust, practical data architecture based on business and technical requirements

Microsoft Fabric BI Developer

Data Platform & Reporting Manager

Standard 8 is partnering with a heavily regulated, engineering-led business looking for someone to take full ownership of its data platform and reporting estate.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll sit across engineering, modelling and reporting — building a platform that actually works, not just looks good in a demo.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own Microsoft Fabric end-to-end (Warehouse + Lakehouse)
  • Build and manage data pipelines via Azure Data Factory / Fabric
  • Keep data flowing cleanly from source systems (including SAP environments)
  • Set standards for storage, performance and platform reliability
  • Run the reporting environment properly — workspaces, deployments, capacity
  • Design robust Power BI semantic models (clean logic, reusable, fast)
  • Deliver dashboards, paginated reports and apps people rely on
  • Make reporting usable on mobile for operational teams
  • Create “golden datasets” to enable proper self-service (without chaos)
  • Lock down data properly — RLS, OLS, roles and access control
  • Ensure everything meets strict regulatory standards (GDPR, PCI, ITAR)
  • Act as the go-to person for the reporting platform
  • Train users and push adoption across the business
  • Move teams away from spreadsheets and into governed reporting

What you need

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Warehouse + Lakehouse)
  • Proven track record building data pipelines (ADF / Fabric)
  • Deep Power BI experience (modelling, DAX, admin, performance)
  • Solid grasp of data modelling and transformation (Power Query, Python)
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP data (messy, high-volume, real-world)
  • Confidence handling financial data where accuracy matters

Nice to have:

  • SAP Datasphere exposure
  • PowerShell / R for automation or analysis

The profile

  • Proper data engineer who understands reporting — not one or the other
  • Comfortable owning a platform, not just contributing to one
  • Able to challenge stakeholders and cut through bad requirements
  • Brings structure, standards and a bit of backbone

Other

  • Degree helpful, not essential
  • Power BI certification a bonus
  • Must be eligible for UK SC Clearance
