Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern, nights 6pm - 6am. What will I be doing as a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter? Working on a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining the equipment that keeps our recycling and resource‑recovery processes moving. You’ll help ensure our machinery operates at peak performance, contributing directly to environmental sustainability and the safe, efficient delivery of our services. Key responsibilities include: * Carrying out planned maintenance, inspections and servicing of processing, recycling and recovery plant and machinery. * Ensuring plant installations and modifications meet current standards and regulatory requirements. * Assessing and diagnosing mechanical faults, and advising supervisors on corrective actions. * Completing repairs using safe systems of work and following all Health & Safety policies. * Supporting continuous improvement by helping identify maintenance and reliability enhancements. A market-leading structural engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join its London team, based in Shoreditch. Commercial Gas / Mechanical Engineer – Hastings up to £55,000 + Van, Overtime + Benefits
We’re hiring a Commercial Gas / Mechanical / Heating Engineer to join a well-established team on a critical hospital site in Hastings. This is mainly a static role with very occasional travel to Canary Wharf when required.
It’s a steady role with strong earning potential and a team that offers genuine flexibility when needed.
The Role
You’ll be working across Mechanical, boiler and steam systems within a live hospital environment, covering both planned and reactive works. The role includes PPMs, breakdowns, fault finding, and general mechanical maintenance, alongside maintaining compliance records and using a tablet to complete job reports.
You’ll also be expected to support energy efficiency improvements and maintain good working relationships with the on-site client team.
Location
The role is primarily based at a large Hospital in Hastings, with very occasional travel to a site in Canary Wharf. Ideal candidates will be based around Hastings, Sevenoaks, or nearby areas.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00, with a call-out rota of 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off (flexible and open to discussion).
Salary & Benefits
Basic salary up to £55,000
Overtime is paid at enhanced rates: time and a half evenings, double time overnight, weekends paid at time and a half rising to double time, and double time plus a day in lieu for bank holidays.
There’s consistent overtime available, currently averaging additional hours across weekends plus call-outs, with a £100 P/W standby allowance.
25 days holiday plus bank holidays (with the option to buy more), and a pension with 6–8% matched contributions.

What You’ll Need

Experience with MTHW systems and forced draught burners is beneficial, along with good health and safety awareness (IOSH or willingness to gain). A Level 3 mechanical qualification or equivalent is expected.
