Summary:

This role involves designing and overseeing the implementation of protection schemes, control systems, and related equipment to ensure the safe and reliable operation of power networks, substations, and Transmissions and Distribution electrical infrastructure.

Position requires technical expertise and vast experience working in Transmission and Distribution sector for protection & control and Substation Automation system/SCADA design (from 11kV up to 400kV). Candidate should lead the design and specification of protection and control systems for electrical substations, powerplants, and transmission/distribution networks.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Candidate is responsible to develop protection settings, relay PSL files, coordination studies, including fault detection and isolation strategies.
  • Candidates should have complete knowledge of all TSO/DNO standards & specifications with respect to P&C Design & Calculations, as well as overall Substation Design Works. He/She should ensure compliance with relevant national and international standards (e.g., IEC, BS, IEEE) in protection system design.
  • Candidate should have good knowledge of substation primary design and substation equipment/switchgear specifications.   • Understand client requirements & produce network architecture philosophy diagram, IED telecommunication diagram, SCADA & Telecommunications Panel design, Network IP allocation, I/O Schedules, Cable & Core schedules, etc.
  • Assist with the setup and commissioning of SCADA systems at client sites, troubleshoot field devices and network communication issues, perform preventive and corrective maintenance on SCADA infrastructure and associated hardware.
  • Efficiently design/develop the SCADA/communication systems (e.g., Ignition, Siemens WinCC, GE iFIX, etc) to ensure real-time data acquisition and control for critical infrastructure.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience: Extensive experience in electrical protection and control system design, Substation Automation and SCADA system typically 12-15 years, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects within the power sector.

  • Candidate should have vast experience in crafting Single Line Diagrams, AC & DC Schematic Drawings, Panel General Arrangements, Panel Wiring Diagrams, Switchgear Termination/interconnection drawings, Block Cable Diagrams/Schedules, and performing cable specification/sizing calculations, battery sizing calculations, CT/VT sizing, multicore sizing, Relays CORTEC/specifications.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Controls and Communications Engineer (CRE) to provide engineering leadership across the full project lifecycle—from tendering and design through to installation, testing, commissioning, and handover. ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principle Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. To provide Electrical Engineering support and leadership to projects through design to completion. This will involve all stages from tendering, design, installation, testing, commissioning and handover. Management of Electrical installations throughout the projects to ensure successful delivery from a HSE, programme, quality, compliance and commercial perspective.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise design and engineering activities across multiple disciplines on projects, overseeing a team of engineers, design managers, lead engineers, specialists and BIM/CAD technicians.
  • Proficient in low and high voltage electrical design (up to 33kV level) inline with all current standards. Key considerations should be safety, maintainability, ease of installation, design sustainability and environmental impact.
  • Proficient in designing the following typical systems:
    • Lighting
    • CMS - sizing and layout
    • Earthing and bonding
    • UPS
    • Switchboards/LVAC
    • VSD’s
    • Lightening protection (support from specialist supplier)
  • Undertake electrical design modelling with electrical design programmes e.g. Prodesign-Amtech.
  • Undertaking formal electrical design review verification (CAT2 checking) in line with current standards and to ensure buildability and constructability. Identify any weakness or errors in the design that could jeopardise the functionality. Ensure HSE best practices are always followed.
  • Familiarity with PLC control systems, including SCADA and BMS.
  • Familiarity with HAZID, HAZOP and HAZCON studies as required.
  • Ensure designer risk registers are compliant with installation parameters.
  • Provide engineered solutions to key project problems to satisfy clients expectations, project restrictions and budget considerations.
  • Management of all associated design registers, meeting minutes, drawing registers etc.as appropriate inline VVB and project requirements. Ensure all formal communication is undertaken and managed (RFI’s, TQ’s, EWN’s, MAR’s etc.)
  • Direct liaison with the CAD/BIM team to ensure correct drawing modelling, to BIM or other standards. Review drawings for clash detection and associated interface problems.
  • Development of scope documents for tenders and procurement processes.
  • Liaison with manufacturers to determine product suitability, in partnership with procurement.
  • Attendance at FAT and SAT (and any other required stage) to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology and solve key installation issues/constructability.
  • Working with the commercial department to track design change and variances.
  • Working with the planning department to plan design, installation and T&C works. Provision of accurate assessment on forecast works to complete and provide suitable readjustments to ensure project programme is maintained.
  • Management of subcontractor works as appropriate including assisting commercial department in valuation and contract support.
  • Ensure design and works comply with VVB and client quality management systems
  • Keep up to date with all electrical, construction and relevant legislation, law, standards and best practice

LINE MANAGEMENT DUTIES:

  • Management of the electrical engineering and design teams
  • Review and management of the team’s time and allocation
  • Training and mentoring of the electrical engineering team
  • Carry out annual performance reviews for the electrical engineers

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of relevant electrical installations legislation and standards, BIM and design modelling standards and all other associated standards and legislation.

  • Knowledge of design processes and associated compliance

  • Utilisation of Electrical design packages (Amtech/Trimble, Cymap etc)

  • Design using AutoCAD / Microstation

  • Sustainability awareness

  • Advanced MS Office skills including Excel

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HND in Electrical Engineering

  • Engineering Council Registration as Chartered Engineer (CEng)

  • Registered member of either CIBSE or IET or other recognised Engineering Council Institutions

  • SMSTS

  • CSCS Card – AQP or PQP min

  • Full UK drivers licence

Robert Half Technology are assisting a market leading manufacturing organisation to recruit a Workday Integration Lead on a 6 month contract basis. Remote working - UK based

Role

  • The Workday Integration Lead will be responsible for the design, development, and deployment of Workday integrations, including both inbound and outbound interfaces.
  • Utilise Workday Studio, Workday Web Services (WWS), EIB, and Cloud Connect (CCW, PECI) for integration tasks.
  • Apply coding skills such as XSLT, XML, Java, SQL, and other integration technologies to build scalable and efficient custom integrations.
  • Ensure accurate and seamless data flow between Workday and other enterprise systems.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies, redundancies, and inefficiencies within integration processes.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues, including data mapping, transformation, and validation.

Profile

  • The Workday Integration Lead will have proficiency in Workday integration development, including expertise with Workday Studio, EIB, and Workday Web Services.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical abilities, with skill in troubleshooting and resolving complex integration issues.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage multidisciplinary teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities and ability to adapt to changing business requirements.
  • Solid project management and organisational skills; Workday certification or experience with Agile methodologies is considered an advantage.
