We are currently working with a well-established, building services contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Services Design Engineer to join their in-house design team based in Northampton.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential-led developments including high-rise residential, student accommodation and hotel schemes, within a fast-paced design & build environment.
The role will suit a technically strong and commercially aware Electrical Design Engineer who is confident working from concept through to handover and enjoys collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
The Role
You will be responsible for:

Developing electrical services designs through all stages up to BSRIA Stage 6.

Supporting the estimating team during design & build tender submissions.

Providing technical support through installation and commissioning phases up to final handover.

Liaising with specialist subcontractors, manufacturers and suppliers to ensure appropriate equipment specification and integration.

Identifying and proposing alternative design solutions to enhance value and buildability.

Monitoring design progress and producing regular progress reports.

Attending and contributing to internal and external meetings.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Strong technical knowledge across all aspects of electrical building services design.

A solid understanding of the Building Safety Act and compliance requirements for Higher Risk Buildings.

Commercial awareness with experience designing in line with cost plans and budgets.

The ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

Strong coordination skills working alongside architects, consultants, developers and contractors.

Qualifications:

Minimum Level 4/5 qualification in Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND or equivalent).

What you’ll be doing;
* Based at Ellesmere Port High Temperature Incinerator, the Functional Safety Engineer ensures a robust functional safety management system is in place to achieve compliance.
* You will provide expertise and appropriate direction to the development of functional safety management across the wider business.
* Provide EC&I technical support to site projects as required.
* Support COMAH activities - intervention visits and safety report development.
* Support long term hazardous waste functional safety improvement.
* Be the Veolia functional safety subject matter expert.
* Ensure audits are carried out to cover all aspects of functional safety.
* Develop and work with other internal functions on asset strategies.
* Support functional safety/process safety competency development.

Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple concurrent sprinkler projects from inception to completion
