There are multiple positions available for engineers who have experience with the full project lifecycle of control systems, taking them from URS/FDS, through to PLC programming, HMI development, and then overseeing commissioning and installation activities at the end (and everything inbetween).

  • Strong working knowledge of the ITIL framework (working towards or having achieved ITIL 4 Master).
  • Demonstrable experience in:
    • Designing and implementing service models within large programmes.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and security-cleared Solution Architect to lead the architecting and design of modern autonomous and digital C4ISR systems and solutions for maritime defence capabilities and platforms.

The role will support multiple maritime and related defence opportunities with the candidate will have extensive experience working in the defence industry, with specific expertise in maritime systems and architectures, autonomy, mission systems, and C4ISR integration as well as good understanding of maritime platform design.

This role will include developing relevant capability roadmaps across the Leidos Maritime area, scoping technology innovation, capability integration, undertaking customer engagement to position Leidos as a leader in Maritime Defence using cutting edge technology and leading the solution on bids and opportunities.

The Solution Architect will work closely with programme-specific architects and engineers, programme delivery, business development, wider divisional technical leadership and customer teams to ensure technical solutions align with customer requirements and operational needs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead the architecture and design of military maritime solutions, including combat systems, Strike Net, communications, autonomous navigation, and integrated platform management systems, across multiple opportunities
  • Translate complex operational and capability requirements into end-to-end system designs.
  • Engage with military stakeholders, engineering teams, partners and subcontractors to define and validate system architectures and technical roadmaps.
  • Review solutions to ensure compliance with military standards, safety, and security requirements (e.g., DEF STAN, STANAG, MIL-STD).

In this role you will be responsible for all aspects of design and delivery of mechanical engineering consultancy services for a portfolio of projects. You will be responsible for; undertaking calculations, production of drawings, producing specifications and reports, conducting site surveys, conducting construction stage duties, providing client liaison, consulting with members of design/construction teams and any other relevant duties required to comply with project briefs.

Producing and reviewing mechanical design drawings will be key to your role. Experience of using Autodesk Revit MEP would be beneficial. If required further training in Revit and other systems will be provided.

You will have the passion and drive to deliver and manage projects in accordance with the clients brief and programme, and will help develop good client relationships. You should be capable of managing your own workload, updating forward plans of workload regularly and working to time allocations.

  • Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems .
  • Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
  • Carry out (and managing of others), in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, dialux, Amtech, in-house developed tools, etc.
  • Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical design within the built environment.
  • Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
  • Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
  • Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools such as CAD, Amtech, Dialux/Relux
