Experience in developing and integrating complex systems, preferably in the defence industry
Strong systems thinking skills with the ability to initiate and drive trade studies
Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information to a variety of stakeholders
Experience developing requirement sets, and an ability to agreeing these collaboratively with different stakeholder groups including System Design Authorities and Government organisations
Project engineering knowledge to be able to design and deliver work packages

What will you be doing?
Prepare technical quotations, costings and detailed proposals for drive and automation solutions
Interpret customer specifications and configure suitable system architectures
Estimate equipment, engineering hours and project resources
Produce system topologies, technical documentation and supporting literature
Act as the interface between sales and engineering teams
Attend customer meetings, surveys and occasional site visits
Support tender submissions and clarification responses
Where will you be doing it?
You will be joining a UK based systems integration business delivering industrial automation and control solutions across multiple manufacturing and infrastructure sectors; the environment is technically driven with close collaboration between sales, engineering and project delivery teams.
What will you need?
Degree or equivalent in electrical, electronic or mechatronic engineering
Experience within systems integration, automation, drives or control systems
Understanding of PLC architecture and industrial control panels
Knowledge of VSDs and motor sizing principles
Familiarity with SCADA or HMI systems and industrial communication networks
Exposure to technical proposals, quotations, bids or tenders
Strong written communication and documentation skills

Senior / Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer
Location: Rochester, Kent
Working pattern: Predominantly on-site (4 days per week), with some flexibility

This role is suited to an experienced electronics hardware engineer who wants to work on technically complex, safety-critical products within a highly experienced engineering team.
The focus is firmly on hardware – digital and/or analogue electronics – rather than software-heavy profiles. You’ll play a key role in delivering robust designs, contributing to technical decisions, and supporting the development of less experienced engineers.
The level (Senior or Principal) will be aligned to your experience, with scope to shape the role accordingly.
What you’ll be doing
Delivering electronic hardware designs from concept through to delivery
Contributing to requirements capture, design, analysis and validation activities
Working closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
Applying sound engineering judgement to balance performance, cost and schedule
Producing high-quality design documentation in line with industry standards
Supporting and mentoring junior engineers within the team
What we’re looking for
Solid experience in digital and/or analogue electronics design
Exposure to full product development lifecycles, ideally in regulated or safety-related environments
A practical, detail-focused engineering mindset with strong problem-solving skills
Confidence working within structured engineering frameworks
Degree or equivalent experience in electronics or a closely related discipline
Experience with specific tools is useful, but transferable skills from comparable environments are absolutely welcomed.
