You and your role

As a Lead Security Architect at DWP, you will shape and govern the security architecture behind some of the largest digital transformation programmes in Europe. We are looking to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Energy, Utilities, and Renewables design team. The successful candidate will join an established team with senior support and will have the opportunity as their career progresses to lead high value and high complexity projects.

The Senior Design Engineer will have a client facing role.

An example of some of the responsibilities for the role as the business needs require are as follows:

  • Design & project management from conceptual phase through to project completion in the Energy and Utilities sectors in areas such as renewables (biogas, biomass, CHP, solar, hydro, industrial utilities), pipelines and installations (gas, oil, pharmaceutical, water, or wastewater).

Feasibility studies for power generation plants
Preparation of electrical technical designs & submissions.

The Candidate.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Electrical engineering degree (Honours bachelors degree or higher), or a similar discipline relevant to the specification above

Experience in the design and selection of equipment within Hazardous areas or suitable training (e.g. CompEx Ex12) would be beneficial

Your new role
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager to join an experienced team and take a lead role in managing projects for local government clients. You will be responsible for overseeing projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with standards and delivering exceptional results. This role involves project management, mentoring junior staff, and liaising with stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects related to Active Travel, Public Realm, Environmental Improvement, and Sports Facilities.
  • Act as Project Manager for local government infrastructure projects.
  • Provide NEC Project Manager expertise.
  • Mentor and support junior staff members.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Civil Engineer status or equivalent.

This is a permanent, full-time role.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Offline CNC programming of aerospace components on 3, 4 and 5 axis machines using CAM software
  • Responsible for selecting efficient tooling packages for each component
  • Develop different machining strategies for cutting various materials such as aluminium and titanium.
  • Verifying NC code using Vericut and engineering sign off procedure
  • Creating process booklets and work instruction for machine set-up and tool assembly
  • Design fixtures and work holding devices for components
  • Work closely with Production and Quality departments to improve current manufacturing methods, driving down machining and labour costs
  • Aid Marketing/Sales teams by designing manufacturing concepts for potential projects and assisting with quotations
  • Update ERP system with all relevant information for each component
  • Work with tooling manufacturers to introduce latest tooling technology and strategies to the business.
  • Liaise with external programming sub-contractors to deliver programs on time and within customer specification

From time to time, you will be required to undertake other responsibilities/activities of a similar nature that fall within your capabilities. This role may involve a level of flexibility to assist with organisational needs.

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant third level qualification in STEM
  • Experience using CAM software, i.e., MasterCAM or similar
  • Knowledge of CNC machining strategies and processes
  • Experience in the manufacture of hard metal (desirable).
  • Experience using various NC languages i.e., siemens, fanuc, heidenhain etc. (desirable).
