About the role

AsLead Software Architect, you will be accountable for owning the software architecture and engineering delivery across a product or platform vertical within our Academic Technology group.

Workingat the intersection of solution architecture, product and engineering, you will translate solution designs and product priorities into well-architected, shippable software, ensuring that technical direction is sound and delivery is sustained from planning through to production and live operation.

You will provide technical leadership across the full engineering lifecycle, including backend and frontend architecture, infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and operational readiness. While this is not primarily a hands-on coding role, it requires a strong engineering background and the ability to review code, challenge design decisions, unblock engineers and engage directly where it adds value.

A core aspect of therole is leading the adoption of AI-enhanced engineering practices. You will shape how teams use AI-assisted tooling across planning, development and quality assurance, focusing on responsible, practical use that measurably improves delivery quality, throughput and maintainability.

You will work closely with Solution Architects, Product Owners and UX colleagues to ensure requirements are technically feasible, well specified and correctly decomposed, acting as the key technical bridge between solution intent and engineering execution.

Additionalresponsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Owning the software architecture for an assigned product or platform area, ensuring solutions support both current delivery and future scalability.
  • Driving engineering delivery from planning through to production, translating solution designs into implementable engineering plans with clear scope, dependencies and sequencing.
  • Providing technical leadership and direction to distributed engineering teams, including Far shore, near shore and contract resources.
  • Removing technical blockers, making pragmatic trade-off decisions and keeping delivery on track.
  • Defining and upholding technical standards, patterns and engineering conventions.
  • Leading the adoption of AI-assisted software development practices and tooling across engineering teams.
  • Owning operational readiness, including infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and developer experience.
  • Evaluating technology and tooling choices, including build-vs-buy decisions, with clear and defensible rationale.

This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. About You

As a senior software architecture or engineering leader, you will have a proven record of owning complex platforms or digital products end-to-end. You will be confident operating across technical and non-technical audiences, bringing sound judgement, strong communication skills and a pragmatic approach to decision-making.

You will have experience translating product and solution designs into engineering delivery, leading distributed teams, and balancing technical quality with delivery pace in complex environments.

We are recruiting a Software Team Lead to work with a leading consultancy in London. We support Central Government, Defence and Law Enforcement customers across the UK with Software, Digital and Data products and tools to help keep the UK safe. Due to the nature of the work and the customers, you must hold enhanced DV Security Clearance.

WHAT WILL THE SOFTWARE TEAM LEAD BE DOING?

As a Software Team Lead, you will act as a Lead Technologist and work hand in hand with the engineering and product teams, leading the design and development. It will you be your job to design and deliver scalable software both in the cloud, and on-premise. You’ll play a pivotal role in the design and direction of our products, and you’ll engage with key customers to understand their needs and shape them into an effective product and technology roadmap.

WE NEED THE SOFTWARE TEAM LEAD TO HAVE….

  • Current DV clearance (Enhanced)
  • We’re looking for deep and broad experience in building and designing software

We are looking for a highly skilled Microsoft M365 Team Lead with extensive experience across the Microsoft technology stack, including both cloud-based solutions (Microsoft 365, Azure) and traditional IT infrastructure (Active Directory, DNS, Networking).   • Hold overall accountability for technical quality and governance on Intune and Entra ID workstreams, ensuring the right SMEs/architects are engaged, designs are reviewed, risks are understood, and solutions meet security, compliance, and operational requirements.

  • Drive repeatable delivery through standards, templates, and automation (e.g., PowerShell), improving quality, speed, and consistency across client engagements.

  • Stay updated on the latest trends, features, and updates of Microsoft 365, and share your knowledge and insights with the team and the community

What you will bring to the role:

We are now looking for a Multimedia Technology Product Manager, who will hold a critical leadership role responsible for the operational excellence, maintenance, and technical roadmap of all global multimedia platforms and delivery systems. You will provide direct managerial oversight for the Studio Manager, the team of Multimedia Developers, and the team of Multimedia Support Analysts, ensuring high performance, global service consistency, and technical stability across all multimedia technology domains.

About the Role:

  • Own the maintenance roadmap and operational stability strategy for all multimedia products and features, ensuring technology reliability and performance.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex production issues across content delivery networks, video encoding/transcoding, Media Asset Management (MAM) systems, and digital archives.
  • Lead the prioritisation and delivery of platform upgrades and security patching across the entire technology stack.
  • Conduct regular platform audits and capacity planning to proactively address potential bottlenecks affecting delivery.
  • Manage the technical product backlog, leading the agile development process focused on platform remediation and stability.
  • Work in direct partnership with the Business Product Owner to align maintenance priorities, technical investment, and platform stabilization efforts with overall business goals.
  • Translate operational needs and required compliance updates into clear, actionable requirements and user stories for the developer team.
  • Monitor key operational performance indicators (KPIs) such as platform uptime, incident response time, and content delivery latency.
  • Team leadership and management, including the Studio Manager, Multimedia Developer team and Multimedia Support Analysts.

About You:

  • Strong experience in product management or technical leadership, with focus on the operations, maintenance, or platform engineering of large-scale digital media systems.
  • Deep technical expertise across the multimedia delivery chain: encoding, packaging, delivery and cloud infrastructure.
  • Extensive knowledge of Media Asset Management (MAM) systems, large-scale storage, and professional studio technology/broadcast infrastructure.
  • Proven track record of managing technical teams, including managing managers and leading globally distributed development and support functions.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, required for executive reporting and global incident communications.
  • Strong commercial acumen and demonstrable experience managing large operational budgets, vendor contracts, and license agreements.
