This is a highly technical, front‑office-aligned position supporting complex, low‑latency electronic trading environments on a global scale.

The Team

• Global production support team covering London, New York, Montreal, Singapore, and Mumbai
• Responsible for over 800 Windows and Linux servers supporting Rates & Credit trading platforms
• Manages connectivity to major electronic trading venues including CME, Eurex, ICE, MTS, Brokertec, Bloomberg, Tradeweb, MarketAxess, and Euronext
• Primary responsibility for global support of the ION platform, in‑house pricing systems, algorithmic trading components, and STP flows
• Production systems located mainly in London, New York, Singapore, and Tokyo

The Role

You will take ownership of a set of applications and technologies within the eTrading environment, becoming a subject‑matter expert while ensuring platform stability, performance, and ongoing improvement.

The role involves a shift‑based rota covering 7:00am to 6:00pm, with occasional - 50% of your working week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Day‑to‑day production management including monitoring, capacity management, incident resolution, and change management
• Rapid and efficient resolution of production issues, minimising impact to trading desks and internal users
• Close collaboration with developers, business analysts, architects, infrastructure teams, and external vendors
• Support implementation and rollout of upgrades and enhancements to existing services
• Design, set up, and improve platforms with a focus on resilience, high availability, performance, and low latency

The Global Field Engineering (GFE) team are a dynamic and highly skilled group of broadcast engineers, who are tasked with managing and deploying a wide array of technical equipment used to deliver live Sports and News television broadcasts for Warner Bros. Discovery networks, at remote locations around the world including TNT Sports, Eurosport, and CNN.
Based across the USA, UK & UAE, the team deliver seamless broadcast operations, often working in fast-paced, demanding environments.

Just this year, the growing London based team have brought, European, Premier League and FA Cup football, The French Open at Roland Garros, Ultimate Cycling and US-based REMI operations for NHL, MLB, MLS, and NASCAR to sports fans internationally, with plans to deliver the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Snooker, UFC as well as many others.

Additionally, the team supports the CNN network, providing real time coverage across a range of breaking news events across the world, including the Davos WEF in Switzerland, the Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC, the Papal funeral in Rome, NATO meetings in the Netherlands, news shows in Ukraine and a Presidential state visit to the UK. The team also supports with on the ground news coverage across fast moving news cycles, with plans to cover New Years Eve news specials as London venues.

Your New Role…

The role of Director, Global Field Engineering reports to the VP of Global Field Engineering and is accountable for managing the International Field Engineering Team. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient deployment of field engineering resources across TNT Sports, Eurosport and CNN. Key responsibilities include delivering exceptional services to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiencies and revenue growth.

This role will be split between the Old Street and Chiswick offices, as well as requiring frequent travel to sports events to evaluate onsite live productions, consult with onsite customers, and help identify execution efficiencies.

Your Role Accountabilities…

Team Management

• Responsible for leadership, hiring, training and oversight for ~12 team members across EMEA (1 Supervisor and a team of Engineers/Associates).
• Managing a team of over 12 staff in the Global Field Engineering Team, responsible for providing 24/7 broadcast and IT services to support live sports and news broadcasts at any business-determined location.
• Leading the evolution of team capabilities, including recruitment, onboarding, and delegation of responsibilities, to adapt to changing workloads and technological complexities.
• Mentoring and developing team members, providing training and development opportunities to enhance performance. Conducting regular performance reviews, offering constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Collaboration and Process Improvement

• Actively engage Eurosport leaders and TNT Sport technical operations teams in planning and staffing event requirements, as well as to strengthen partnerships.

Remote Execution and Event Coordination

• Frequent travel to sports events to evaluate onsite live productions, consult with onsite customers, and help identify execution efficiencies.

Qualifications & Experience…

• Proven experience in a senior events execution and field technology teams’ management role within a News and Sports media organisation.

• Detection and response (EDR/XDR)
• Sensor management, updates, and grouping policies
• Alignment of host groups and policies to organisational requirements.
• Integration with identity/directory services for visibility and correlation.
• Tuning of detection capabilities, including custom detection logic within agreed capacity.
• Integration with SIEM/SOC platforms for alerting, event correlation, and centralised monitoring.
• Enablement of response capabilities (host containment, Real Time Response).
• Validation, testing, and troubleshooting of deployment and configuration (sample-based and advisory).

Skills required:

• Active SC Clearance or ability to obtain
• Previous banking/finance experience
• Proven hands-on experience deploying and engineering CrowdStrike Falcon
• Strong background in endpoint and server security across enterprise, cloud, and hybrid estates
• Experience integrating security tooling with SIEM/SOC environments

Build the engine behind a $trillions-per-day market

This isn’t another Back End Java role.

This is about sitting on the critical path of FX pricing, where microseconds matter, decisions are Real Time, and your code directly impacts global trading performance.

You’ll be working inside one of the largest FX franchises in the world, engineering ultra-low latency pricing systems used by traders, quants, and clients across every major currency pair.

The work

You’ll lead from the front-both technically and strategically:

• Design and build ultra-low latency FX pricing systems
• Optimise performance across JVM, CPU, memory, and network layers
• Work closely with trading desks & quant teams to deliver Real Time solutions
• Drive system re-engineering (Legacy - modern, high-performance architecture)
• Mentor and shape a high-calibre engineering team
• Influence architecture across global FX technology

What they’re looking for

• Strong background in low latency/high-performance Java
• Experience in pricing, market data, or execution systems (FX ideal, not essential)
• Deep understanding of:
  • GC tuning/low allocation design
  • Multithreading/concurrency
  • Network protocols/messaging
  • System-level performance optimisation
• Proven track record of:
  • Building or re-engineering business-critical systems
  • Working closely with Front Office stakeholders
• Comfortable operating as a hands-on technical leader
