What you’ll be doing:

• Providing advice on product safety matters to project and engineering managers delivering the programmes and ensuring the safety considerations (DEF STAN 0055/0056) are correctly considered and implemented
• Engaging with third parties, to review and gather supporting safety case evidence
• Developing safety arguments, both physical and functional, using appropriate safety analysis methods e.g. (FHA/STPA/FMEA/FTA) producing and updating safety case and safety management documentation using appropriate regulations and standards
• Line managing other safety practitioners
• Applying ALARP principles

The Combat Systems Safety Team

Working closely with several engineers and technical specialists on both In-Service and In-Build Combat Systems, you will have the opportunity to work on developing safety arguments. NG Bailey IT Services are currently recruiting a Data Engineer / Managed Services Engineer with experience in both structured and voice cabling to support our contract covering our MOD contract in Cyprus responding to break fix / faults and minor projects across the portfolio.

The Data Engineer will have experience of installation and fault finding of Structured and Voice Cabling systems and preferably hold the CNCI (Certified Network Cable Installer) qualification. You will be responsible for responding to any of our managed service contract break fix requests as per the contract SLA’s. In the role you will be designing and developing complex data processing modules and reporting using Big Query and Tableau. In addition, you will also work closely with the Infrastructure/Platform Team who are responsible for architecting, and operating the core of the client’s Data Analytics platform.

You will:

Work with both the business teams data scientists and engineers to design, build, optimise and maintain production grade data pipelines and reporting from an internal Data warehouse solution, based on GCP/Big Query

Work with finance, actuaries, data scientists and engineers to understand how the client can make best use of new internal and external data sources

Work with the client’s delivery partners at to ensure robustness of Design and engineering of the data model/ MI and reporting which can support their ambitions for growth and scale

BAU ownership of data models, reporting and integrations/pipelines

Create frameworks, infrastructure and systems to manage and govern data assets

Produce detailed documentation to allow ongoing BAU support and maintenance of data structures, schema, reporting etc.

Work with the broader Engineering community to develop the client’s data and MLOps capability infrastructure

Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with internal and external standards.

Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, ensuring reliability and accuracy.

Tasks range from understanding business requirements, designing application structures, business data analysis, programming WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) applications in Visual C#.NET on both Oracle and SQL Server database, testing with users, implementation through Development, Quality Assurance (QA), Production and Disaster Recovery environments. Supporting users and writing operation documents including User Helps (manuals) will also be required.
As well as application development, this role will also include all aspects of system constructions and support for existing programmes which are written as WinForms (C#.NET) applications. Also, applications written in other languages like MS VBA for Excel and Access, MS VB and MS Excel Macros will also be required.

Additional Tasks

Defining Database objects required in systems to connect with SQL and Oracle Database Administrators in both London and New York.
Providing script for database inquiry languages, i.e., T-SQL (SQL Server) and PL/SQL (Oracle) to perform data analysis based on requirements from business parties.
Setting up a system distribution method to Citrix and application servers for both Web and Window applications.
Troubleshooting systems in an event of failure and implementing necessary solutions by checking Windows Operating System, Internet Information Server and any other relevant environments where the applications are running. In some case this role will act to liaise with other application support team staff.
Following the existing team programming policy to keep a common development style to be shared in team members.
Updating versions of MS .Net Framework and MS Visual .NET platform to include any necessary changes of existing systems running in Production.
Liaising with the relevant support teams such as other Development sections, Technical Support, Network and Infrastructure and DBA where Business users experience system problems.
Assessing the impact of data processing loads on SQL and Oracle database and, when appropriate, finding alternative approaches.
