What will you Learn?
You will be working alongside experienced engineers on a daily basis, learning on the job as you work on customer sites, doing service and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
After gaining some experience working and learning in the field, candidates who demonstrate an aptitude to be a qualified service engineer will be enrolled into our state-of-the-art training centre in King’s Lynn.
Training will include a combination of classroom teaching and home study with written assignments and on-site assessments. It takes approximately 18 months to complete the course and at the end of the course you will be a skilled Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Service Engineer with a City and Guilds accredited qualification.
You will attend our in-house bespoke training centre in Kings Lynn, Norfolk at least once a month in week to 2-week long blocks. You will be provided with accommodation and meals during the time you spend at the training centre.
Once you successfully complete your course you will be awarded your City and Guilds accredited certificates issued with an Adcock van and will continue to learn as you gain experience.
What do you need to have?
Basic skills requirement with a minimum of a level 5 © in English and Maths or have the required skills through acquired prior learning.
Must have own transport and able to get to and from the branch or meeting points.
Training is fully funded by Adcock, subject to a Training Funding Agreement.
Able to accommodate early starts and / or later finishes.
Able to work away should this be required.
A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.
Some experience within a construction-based role would be an advantage but is not essential.

Key responsibilities Develop and maintain software written in Rust/Python for front end/ embedded and systems-level applications. Work with cross-functional teams including hardware, firmware, and systems engineers. Design efficient, safe, and maintainable code for resource-constrained environments. Integrate software with hardware peripherals and low-level interfaces. Contribute to architecture decisions and code reviews. Debug and optimise performance on embedded targets. Support testing, validation, and deployment of firmware/software components. Required Skills and Experience Professional experience with Rust and Python programming. Knowledge or experience working with embedded systems or firmware development. Understanding of low-level programming concepts (memory management, concurrency, hardware interfaces). Knowledge of microcontrollers, RTOS, or bare-metal environments. Knowledge of debugging tools and performance optimisation techniques. Desirable Skills Experience with embedded Linux or cross-compilation toolchains. Familiarity with hardware communication protocols (SPI, I C, UART, CAN, etc.). Software Engineer - C++ Leicester
Our client is an established, innovative technology business with over 50 years of heritage developing high-precision measurement and colour science solutions. Their products are exported worldwide and used by some of the world’s most recognisable brands. As the product range becomes increasingly software-driven, they are growing their development team and looking for a Software Engineer to join them in Leicester.
The Role
You’ll be working within a small team of two, reporting directly to the Head of Software, contributing to the development and maintenance of a growing suite of PC and embedded applications used globally to calibrate and maintain precision measurement equipment.
This is a hands-on role with genuine ownership. You’ll be expected to work with a degree of autonomy, bring ideas to the table, and collaborate closely with colleagues across engineering disciplines in an open-plan environment.
