What You’ll Do

  • Support development of bespoke software on embedded platforms (ESP32, Raspberry Pi, ARM-based boards).
  • Write and maintain C, C++ and/or Python code with guidance and peer review.
  • Assist with hardware interfacing (UART/serial, GPIO, USB, SPI/I2C) and peripheral bring-up.
  • Participate in testing and debugging in the lab and on customer sites (with support).
  • Contribute to refining requirements and implementing features as part of a delivery team.
  • Help with integration and deployment into secure environments under supervision.
  • Maintain documentation and follow traceable, peer-reviewed Git practices aligned with repository governance.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Hands-on programming experience (academic, hobbyist, internship, or professional).
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ and/or Python.
  • Interest or experience in embedded systems development.
  • Basic understanding of hardware interfaces (serial, GPIO, SPI/I2C, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and debugging fundamentals.
  • A practical problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn.

Desirable:

  • Exposure to microcontrollers or SBCs (ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, etc.).

The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London’s state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. About the Role:

To assist the Delivery Manager with the delivery of the Electrical Work Package at Old Oak Common Station. This will involve working with the Delivery Manager, project team, 3rd party design consultants, main contractor, Siemens SBS and 3rd party installation contractors to safely deliver the project, on time, to stated quality, at minimum cost and to client satisfaction.

Projects rely on accurate technical delivery. Gaps between design and installation can lead to delays, rework, and performance issues. A capable Engineer helps ensure systems are delivered correctly, supporting smooth commissioning, reliable operation, and long-term building performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Delivery Manager to deliver the project to meet cost, time, and quality requirements.
  • Reviewing designs, specifications, and control strategies in line with current project applicable HS2, NR, BS, EN and ISO standards and to ensure buildability and constructability.
  • Assisting Procurement of mechanical, public health, fire, electrical and BEMS equipment to ensure that requirements are fully compatible with the selected equipment including liaising with manufacturers.

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join an innovative team delivering advanced technology solutions for the film and television industry. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge embedded systems while helping shape the future direction of a live and evolving project.

Role overview

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining embedded software for custom PCB solutions, working across both hardware and software domains. The role requires strong expertise in embedded C/C++ programming and experience integrating multiple communication protocols.

The project is already underway with key architectural decisions in place, however there is significant scope for you to influence technical direction and contribute as a foundational member of the engineering team.

Key responsibilities

* Write, maintain, and optimise C/C++ code for embedded systems and custom PCBs

* Implement and debug communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and Ethernet

* Integrate embedded software with third‑party hardware and systems

* Contribute to the design and development of embedded software architecture

* Conduct detailed testing, debugging, and fault analysis of embedded systems

* Produce clear and accurate technical documentation

* Work closely with hardware engineers and other team members to ensure effective system integration

Essential skills and experience

* Proven experience developing embedded software using C and C++

* Strong background working with microcontroller peripherals and interfaces

* Ability to read, understand, and work from electronic schematics

* Good understanding of communication standards at the physical layer and above

* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

* Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team

* High level of attention to detail, including documentation

* Ability to commute to West London when required/Hybrid working

* Experience with schematic design and PCB layout

* Reverse engineering of communication protocols
