Your Role

The Programme Chief Engineer will act as the technical authority for the Electro-Mechanical Actuation (EMA) product line within the Global Defence Systems value stream.   • We are looking for a technical / engineering leader with a track record of inspiring and leading multidisciplined engineering design and development teams to successful engineering delivery.
  • Previous experience of off-road / off-highway vehicles, defence vehicles, or specialist vehicles is preferred.
  • You will be able to combine being accountable for strategic engineering leadership, engineering delivery performance, and long-term technical capability development.
  • Your personal attributes will include systems engineering thinking, accountability, integrity, and an ability to build trust with several stakeholders.
  • You are likely to be degree qualified in an engineering discipline.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Strategic leadership and delivery of all engineering activities within a concept design, prototype development, low volume defence vehicle engineering environment.
  • Deliver R&D and product engineering excellence.
  • Leadership of a multidisciplined engineering team Mechanical Design Engineers, Electrical Design Engineers, Software / Systems Engineers, and Build Technicians.
  • Drive strong collaboration between local and wider group engineering teams.
  • Support customer facing activities when a high level of technical / engineering input is required.
  • Some infrequent international travel is expected.

You will play a critical role in owning infrastructure strategy, standards, and MSP governance, ensuring services are delivered reliably and consistently across multiple brands and sites. • Proven track record managing MSPs or outsourced partners, with clear ownership of performance, contracts, and technical quality
• Experience defining and delivering infrastructure strategy in a scaling or multi-entity organisation
• Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to translate technical decisions into clear business outcomes
