Rolls-Royce has an excellent opportunity for a Methods Development Engineer to join our Submarines Business in Derby.

As a methods development engineer, you will actively develop methods which increase the availability and safety of components in-service. This is done by leading the entire development life-cycle which includes:

• Preliminary literature reviews to generate hypotheses
• Physical testing to provide validation
• Reporting and obtaining regulatory approval
• Implementation of the developed methods as quality assured software

The component methods team consists of engineering and software developers from a variety of backgrounds who work together within an agile framework to generate software and methods solutions to overcome some of the most challenging problems in the business.

The application of these methods development activities are both structural integrity or thermal hydraulic, with the role offering opportunities in both fields. Depending on the level of applicant there are opportunities to nurture and expand our current links with academia as well as increasing our presence within the international community by attending and presenting at various industrial conferences.

PROJECT ENGINEER

SOUTHAMPTON OR SWINDON OR HYBRID

We are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver multiple P removal schemes across the Wessex Water region. This role will report to a Project Manager, and the candidate will be responsible for supporting the project team with the procurement, installation and handover documentation for all electrical and mechanical aspects of the project delivery. Candidates ideally will be qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, and have some experience of working within the water industry would be beneficial.

The successful candidate would be predominantly site based in the Wessex Water region, with a requirement to attend our Southampton Head Office or our new Swindon Office, when required. Options for hybrid working are open to discussion.

Role & Responsibilities:

Collaborate with all stakeholders and engage with regular communications

Attend internal and external meetings

Collaborate with internal and external design teams with input to design and constructability

Supervision and recording of survey work

Responsible for the development and management of project procurement schedules

Aid with the submission of material enquires and the review of quotations

Placement of material orders

Ensure that site installation works and its quality match both design, client and industry standards

• Technical expertise in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and administration across Windows and Linux environments.
• Proficient in using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or JIRA.
• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, along with ITIL Foundation certification.
• Additional training in customer service or team leadership.
• Personal attributes include being calm under pressure, highly organised, and having a customer-first mindset.

• 3 years or more of PLC/SCADA programming experience in one or more of the following systems such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, ABB 800xA, Schneider, Modicon, Mitsubishi, Wonderware and WinCC is desirable.
