The Recipe
As a Lead Engineer you’ll direct the daily activities of the shift teams engaged on breakdown and preventative maintenance for the plant, maximising plant reliability, performance, product quality and safety.
The Role
You’ll ensure plant is safe to operate and maintain and personnel conform to health and safety legislation, policies and standards, as well as leading the engineering team to support the day to day operation by delivering planned and reactive maintenance to achieve engineering KPIs. You’ll work within the framework of a Business led engineering reliability strategy with the effective use of SAP PM, and maintain equipment in line with relevant food safety legislation. As well as overseeing this you will help support the recruitment, motivation and development of an engineering team to ensure they achieve the goals and targets agreed in their role profiles and performance review meetings.

Salary: £70,000 – £85,000 basic + EMI share scheme + benefits
A highly specialised engineering company is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its technical activities during an exciting period of growth and a very full order book!
This is a small 8-person business, so your role will be VERY broad.
Most of your role will be to provide technical leadership and oversight across engineering projects. But you will be required to be ‘hands-on’ at times in mechanical design, either because the project needs it or to cover people’s work while they’re on holiday etc. You will also need to be customer-facing and able to talk to clients. You will engage with new and existing clients to help win new business or ensure projects are delivered.
This role would suit an experienced Engineering Manager who is still hands-on (or capable of being) or a highly experienced Senior/Principal/Lead Mechanical Engineer, looking to take the step up into a leadership role.
You must have a strong technical background in mechanical design involving precision hydraulics/pneumatics. Any experience in robotics/automation or similar would be highly beneficial, but not essential.
The business designs and builds complex bespoke engineering systems for high-profile clients, combining mechanical design, electronics, software and advanced engineering techniques.
Reporting directly to the Board, you will take responsibility for the technical leadership and operational delivery. This role requires a hands-on engineering leader who is equally comfortable solving technical challenges, managing a small engineering team, and supporting business development activity.
You will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the business, ensuring projects are delivered successfully while also identifying opportunities to secure new work.
