Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstratable experience in a manufacturing project-based role would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to drive projects forward.
  • Excellent Communication skills across a variety of formats and the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with stakeholders and customers at all levels.
  • Knowledge of steam turbines and generator industrial manufacture would be beneficial but not essential

Reporting into the Head of Focal Engineering, the Principal Networks Engineer within Network Services is the most senior technical resource to resolve highly complex technical design or service issues that cannot be resolved through the normal operations and maintenance procedures. You will be responsible for providing leadership for root cause analysis.

What you’ll do:

  • You will be the technical lead within the customer account for both internal and external requirements and act as an internal technical escalation point with the ability to mentor/coach internal resources to achieve a higher level of service.
  • You will act as the last line technical lead to resolve technical problems, either design or support related problems. To take a lead where required in root cause analysis to drive issue resolution and limit impact to the customer.
  • You will be responsible for reviewing and reporting on specific customer incidents and manage customer expectations. Ensure escalation and feedback drives a high level of performance throughout Telent.
  • You will be responsible for the documentation and upkeep of technical databases relating to the customers network infrastructure such that internal engineering colleagues can refer to this information held on either a WiKi or KEDB, assisting in the resolution of customer incidents and problems.
  • You will assist in the build and design of Proof-of-Concept scenarios, Type Approval activities in the Telent labs and support in the creation of test type documentation and test scenarios.
  • You will assist and/or lead in the pre-staging of equipment to be installed on customer sites as part of projects or installs.
  • Be an expert in the required Technology for your section. Create and deliver: technical presentations, solution demonstrations, solution design/configuration, and proposal development.
  • You will provide technical assistance to the sales teams in whatever format is required (e.g. in customer meetings, presentations and response to tenders) so that opportunities are supported with the correct technical expertise.

Specialist engineering and fabrication business delivering bespoke noise control and acoustic attenuation solutions for industrial and energy applications is looking to recruit an Acoustic Engineer.

You will be responsible for carrying out acoustic assessments, producing calculations, and supporting engineering projects from an acoustics standpoint.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with generator plant (diesel), boiler houses, and other mechanical services environments. This position is suited to someone who has delivered project management responsibilities within these technical areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer acoustic solutions for industrial noise control (enclosures, ventilation attenuation, exhaust silencers, panels).
  • Translate client needs into clear acoustic specifications (dB targets, octave-band data, insertion loss, breakout noise, vibration and pressure drop constraints).
  • Complete acoustic calculations/modelling to optimise designs, balancing noise reduction with airflow and manufacturability.
  • Support validation using accredited test data; produce and maintain technical documentation (datasheets, IOMs, technical submissions/reports).
  • Collaborate with 2D/3D design and workshop teams to ensure safe, manufacturable, right-first-time delivery.
  • Provide technical input to proposals and respond to customer engineering queries.
  • Occasional site visits for surveys, installation support and/or commissioning.

Required:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related discipline.
  • Experience in acoustic engineering (industrial noise control, HVAC/building services acoustics, plant noise, or acoustic products).
  • Confident interpreting acoustic data and producing clear client-facing technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Desirable:

  • CadnaA / SoundPLAN (or similar) and/or octave-band spreadsheet calculation experience.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards/guidance and acoustic test methods.
  • CAD literacy (SolidWorks/Inventor/AutoCAD); exposure to CFD-informed design is beneficial.
