The Role:

You will be responsible for engineering at the plant so it runs efficiently sustaining high performance. You will work as part of a team of Maintenance Engineers to ensure that the Production Lines are maintained and fully operational in order to achieve maximum efficiency levels and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets. The role will work closely with the Production team to ensure that CI projects, planned maintenance activities, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and waste targets are achieved and delivered.

You will be a competent Production Line Engineer with the ability to resolve breakdowns safely and efficiently so that production volumes are maximised and the working environment remains safe and hazard free.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mechanical and electrical fault finding, repairs, and breakdown response, identifying root causes to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Deliver proactive planned maintenance to ensure plant operates safely, efficiently, and within quality standards.
  • Support plant upgrades, continuous improvement initiatives, and new equipment installations.
  • Work closely with Team Leaders and Management to meet schedules and production requirements, assisting with plant operations when required.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety best practices, SSWs, PTWs, relevant legislation, and company policies including accident and near-miss reporting.

About the Role

We now have an opportunity for a Radio Frequency Engineer or Senior RF Engineer to support the RF Group with a high level of expertise in the design, development, operation and maintenance of RF high and low power systems.

You will contribute to the overall work of the RF Group with responsibility for certain aspects of the RF systems including:

  • Development of new RF equipment and carry out assembly and test.
  • Management and inventory control of the RF laboratory, RF test equipment operation and calibration.
  • Project management of small R&D projects for new products/systems.
  • To undertake study and development projects for future upgrades including amplifier upgrades, electronics upgrades, waveguides and coaxial transmission lines, high power circulators/loads and supervision equipment.
  • To carry out inspection, acceptance testing, installation and maintenance of high-power RF equipment.
  • Liaison with other groups such as Diagnostics, Accelerator Physics and the Operations team in diagnosis and repair or new systems development and installation.
  • Contribute to ensuring safe working practices are being followed.
  • To take part setting up and preparing for beam operation and beam-off periods, RF and general operation shifts.

Applicants will be considered at either Radio Frequency Engineer or SeniorRadio FrequencyEngineer level, depending on the strength of your skills, experience and qualifications.

About You

You should hold a degree inrelevant discipline (e.g. RF or Electronics Engineering) or demonstrate equivalent experience.

As well as experience in the following areas:

  • Design, production and testing of RF circuits
  • Supervision of procurement contracts.
  • High-power RF measurement and data analysis
  • Hands-on experience in RF transmission lines such as waveguides and high-power coaxial assembly.

Any knowledge / experience within the following areas will also be beneficial:

  • High power solid-state and/or IOT amplifiers.
  • Particle accelerator RF systems.
  • Electrical and electronic fault finding in complex systems.

The core of this exciting role is to support our customers in getting connected to the grid from EV charging hubs at Low Voltage right up to the largest UK data centres who measure their connections in Gigawatts.
