The Role:

You will be responsible for engineering at the plant so it runs efficiently sustaining high performance. You will work as part of a team of Maintenance Engineers to ensure that the Production Lines are maintained and fully operational in order to achieve maximum efficiency levels and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets. The role will work closely with the Production team to ensure that CI projects, planned maintenance activities, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and waste targets are achieved and delivered.

You will be a competent Production Line Engineer with the ability to resolve breakdowns safely and efficiently so that production volumes are maximised and the working environment remains safe and hazard free.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mechanical and electrical fault finding, repairs, and breakdown response, identifying root causes to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Deliver proactive planned maintenance to ensure plant operates safely, efficiently, and within quality standards.
  • Support plant upgrades, continuous improvement initiatives, and new equipment installations.
  • Work closely with Team Leaders and Management to meet schedules and production requirements, assisting with plant operations when required.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety best practices, SSWs, PTWs, relevant legislation, and company policies including accident and near-miss reporting.

Experience:

  • Formal recognised engineering qualification/trained i.e. apprentice trained/NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
  • At least 3 years experience as a Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Grid Connections Engineer to join our industry leading team of grid experts.

The core of this exciting role is to support our customers in getting connected to the grid from EV charging hubs at Low Voltage right up to the largest UK data centres who measure their connections in Gigawatts.

This is a role that combines technical detailed power systems engineering with a customer focused drive to deliver outstanding and innovative solutions.

On the technical side you will be using cutting edge power systems modelling software (ETAP, SINCAL and IPSA) to model high voltage and extra high voltage networks to identify points of connections, as well as any required reinforcements. You will combine this expert network knowledge with our in house designed and manufactured control systems to offer solutions that are not available anywhere else.

What youll be doing

  • Using power systems modelling software to identify electrical capacity (thermal, voltage and fault level) on distribution and transmission networks
  • Create and maintain strong relationships internally and with customers, DNOs, IDNOs and ICPs
  • Using our in-house design and manufactured grid control systems, design innovative grid connection solutions for our customers
  • Manage the end-to-end grid connections process and provide expert support for our customers
  • Prepare engineering drawings and technical reports (grid compliance, single line diagrams)

What we’re looking for

  • Significant experience in LV & HV electrical distribution network design
  • Strong background in the technical DNO connection offer process (using power systems software or other tools to identify and asses points of connection)
  • Experience of both demand and generation connections, HV and EHV
  • Detailed knowledge of the connections processes and associated standards (CCCMS, ECCR)
  • Experience of NERS design approval process with DNO/IDNO/ICP an advantage
  • Experience using power systems tools (WinDebut, IPSA, ETAP, SINCAL, ELEK Cable HV, ELEK Safe Grid, AutoCAD or their equivalents)
  • Ability to communicate well with senior management and customers alike
  • Strong technical and mathematical skills

What youll be doing

  • Produce detailed electrical schematic drawings using EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Develop panel GA layouts, internal arrangements and component placement drawings.
  • Create terminal plans, cable schedules, I/O schedules and bills of materials.
  • Interpret control philosophies and functional specifications into practical hardware designs.
  • Support selection and integration of PLC hardware, power supplies, network components and field devices.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (BS EN 60204, BS EN 61439 and associated guidelines).
  • Incorporate revisions and red-line updates following FAT and commissioning.
  • Work closely with the panel build team to support manufacturing queries.
  • Contribute to the preparation of professional O&M documentation packs.

Requirements Essential qualifications & experience:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years experience in electrical design of control panels or industrial systems.
  • Strong proficiency in EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience producing structured electrical schematics and panel layout drawings.
  • Understanding of LV control systems, protection devices, relays and PLC I/O.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation standards.
