  • Develop a functional design for C&I solution for electrical systems, including deriving the functional design from Piping & Instrumentation diagrams

  • Undertaking/leading technical design reviews for C&I
  • Articulating and presenting technical arguments, clearly and logically

Your skills and experiences:

  • BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent
  • Working towards professional registration
  • Technical report writing skills
  • Demonstrable experience of engineering lifecycle
  • Knowledge and experience in defence standards whilst not essential would be an advantage
  • System calculations, modelling and analysis
  • Understanding of at least one of the following areas:
  • Legacy understanding of submarine design programmes

The Centralised Control and Instrumentation Team:

The Senior Engineer shall provide support to the Principal Engineers and/or external specialists during development, analysis, integration and verification of platform control and instrumentation systems. In this role you will be involved in leading analysis and the production of technical reports and team deliverables, such as managing and maturing operator control console design to meet defined design criteria and programme demands. This role will be working on the SSNA program and the next generation submarine design.

About the role:

As an EC&I Technician, you’ll provide electrical, control and instrumentation support to the plant mainly focussed on planned and unplanned maintenance activities. You’ll also provide some support on modification and replacement projects.

Based in Uddingston near Glasgow, Daldowie Treatment Works is one of the largest plants of its type in Europe. For nearly 25 years the plant has focussed on creating wdf pellets from sewage sludge reducing environmental impacts as well as creating a new fuel source replacing the need to burn fossil fuels.

Day to day you’ll support the process by providing timely repairs to breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance activities including instrumentation calibrations. You’ll ensure that all work is managed and recorded correctly to maintain compliance, inspiring safe ways of working across the site, setting a high standard of EC&I engineering activity, and supporting in rolling out new processes, systems, and ways of working to your colleagues on site.

You’ll be joining a tight knit, dedicated team based on site, who are also part of a larger group with a wide support network.

Who we’re looking for:

You’ll need to have experience in solving problems and being a strong communicator to be able to persuade and influence others.
You should be educated to at least ONC level in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering and should have served a recognised Apprenticeship.

Specifically, you’ll need plant experience in the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment, including but not restricted to, 3 phase motors and associated switchgear, variable speed drives, soft starts, circuit breakers, motor control centres and 3 phase and single-phase distribution systems.

You’ll be able interpret schematic drawings, single line diagrams and PLC ladder logic.

Ideally, you’ll also have process plant experience in the maintenance, repair, installation and calibration of plant instrumentation and control systems including, but not restricted to, systems for the measurement of temperature, pressure, level, flow, oxygen, and ph.

You’ll be a qualified Electrical Engineer (either apprentice trained or through education ONC/HNC/HND etc) with a background in static maintenance or field service for 3 phase – ideally you will hold your C&G 2365 in Electrical Installation too.

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge (LMB) is an internationally recognised scientific research institution.
We are looking to recruit a full-time Maintenance Engineer to join the Estates and Facilities team on a permanent contract. We are keen to recruit a Maintenance Engineer with either an electrical focus or one with a mechanical focus depending on experience and expertise. As such you will be responsible for providing electrical or mechanical planned and preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance (RM) on all plant systems and services. You will also be responsible for operating the computer-controlled Building Management Systems (BMS) to monitor and identify fault diagnostics, taking the appropriate action to resolve these. You will oversee the operation of the steam boilers and systems; steam is used extensively throughout our sites and training will be given as required.
The LMB buildings, on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Babraham Research Campus, are required to be maintained and kept fully operational 24/7, to meet the scientific requirements. You will be required to be available on-call out-of-hours approximately 6-8 weeks per year (on a rota basis). You must hold a UK driving licence and live within 45 minutes of the main LMB building. Opportunities to work paid overtime are also available.
You will have completed a recognised electrical or mechanical apprenticeship or hold the equivalent qualifications. You will have experience of working in a complex building with responsibility for electrical or mechanical systems and using a BMS. A salary at the higher end of the advertised scale will be offered to candidates with substantial experience.

Principal Design Verification Engineer

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a talented individual to join the Network Technology Solutions Group in the Data Center Solutions Group as Principal Design Verification Engineer in our Edinburgh office. This team develops RTL blocks and subsystems for the AMD Pensando AI NIC product line, allowing GPU clusters to be built to support AI training and inference workloads at scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Principal Design Verification Engineer, you will lead the verification efforts to functionally verify complex RTL blocks destined for the next generation of Data Center networking ASICs.

Required profile

ABOUT YOU:

  • Experience of working as a technical lead in a verification team
  • Proven track record in simulation-based verification for ASIC or FPGA blocks and subsystems.
  • Strong experience in UVM-based verification in SystemVerilog, with a deep understanding of the framework.
  • Experience of verification coverage closure in an ASIC or FPGA project.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of Synopsys functional verification tools would be an advantage.
  • Experience of full chip verification would be an advantage.
  • Experience of formal verification would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of AI-based debug techniques would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Python would be an advantage.
  • Experience in C/C++ would be an advantage.
