The Senior Engineer shall provide support to the Principal Engineers and/or external specialists during development, analysis, integration and verification of platform control and instrumentation systems. This role will be working on the SSNA program and the next generation submarine design.

Based in Uddingston near Glasgow, Daldowie Treatment Works is one of the largest plants of its type in Europe. Day to day you’ll support the process by providing timely repairs to breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance activities including instrumentation calibrations. You’ll ensure that all work is managed and recorded correctly to maintain compliance, inspiring safe ways of working across the site, setting a high standard of EC&I engineering activity, and supporting in rolling out new processes, systems, and ways of working to your colleagues on site.
You’ll be joining a tight knit, dedicated team based on site, who are also part of a larger group with a wide support network.
Who we’re looking for:
You’ll need to have experience in solving problems and
being a strong communicator to be able to persuade and influence others.
You should be educated to at least ONC level in
Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering and should have served a recognised
Apprenticeship.
Specifically, you’ll need plant experience in the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment, including but not restricted to, 3 phase motors and associated switchgear, variable speed drives, soft starts, circuit breakers, motor control centres and 3 phase and single-phase distribution systems.
You’ll be able interpret schematic drawings, single line diagrams and PLC ladder logic.
Ideally, you’ll also have process plant experience in the maintenance, repair, installation and calibration of plant instrumentation and control systems including, but not restricted to, systems for the measurement of temperature, pressure, level, flow, oxygen, and ph.

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge (LMB) is an internationally recognised scientific research institution.
We are looking to recruit a full-time Maintenance Engineer to join the Estates and Facilities team on a permanent contract. We are keen to recruit a Maintenance Engineer with either an electrical focus or one with a mechanical focus depending on experience and expertise. As such you will be responsible for providing electrical or mechanical planned and preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance (RM) on all plant systems and services. You will also be responsible for operating the computer-controlled Building Management Systems (BMS) to monitor and identify fault diagnostics, taking the appropriate action to resolve these. You will oversee the operation of the steam boilers and systems; steam is used extensively throughout our sites and training will be given as required.
The LMB buildings, on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Babraham Research Campus, are required to be maintained and kept fully operational 24/7, to meet the scientific requirements. You will be required to be available on-call out-of-hours approximately 6-8 weeks per year (on a rota basis). You must hold a UK driving licence and live within 45 minutes of the main LMB building. Opportunities to work paid overtime are also available.
You will have completed a recognised electrical or mechanical apprenticeship or hold the equivalent qualifications. You will have experience of working in a complex building with responsibility for electrical or mechanical systems and using a BMS. You will possess a good working knowledge of engineering services and building maintenance and an understanding of HVAC systems. You will be a competent IT user and a team player who can also work independently with limited supervision. A salary at the higher end of the advertised scale will be offered to candidates with substantial experience.
