A Senior Infrastructure Engineer is required for our Government Client to support a wide range of infrastructure technology across various platforms. You will be required to support various tiered systems within the Citrix skills and technology space; this role will support a wider team of skilled IT specialists supporting various government platforms and services.

As well as being proficient in Citrix, you will also possess strong hands-on capability across VMware and Linux platforms too. You will be required to support, maintain and enhance the client’s enterprise infrastructure, ensuring reliability, performance and security across all systems.

You will possess excellent troubleshooting skills, a strong technical breadth and the ability to work collaboratively within a busy operations environment.

You will also support BAU and project deliverables where required.

Role Description:

The Wintel Engineer will be responsible for managing and supporting enterprise Windows and VMware environments, ensuring high availability, resilience, and performance. This role involves advanced virtualization, storage replication, and network integration.

Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, clusters, and virtual machines.
Configure and manage vCenter and vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS).
Implement and support SRDF Metro for storage replication and disaster recovery.
Integrate VMware environments with Cisco ACI for network automation and security.
Perform system upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
Troubleshoot complex Wintel and virtualization issues.
Ensure compliance with security and operational standards.
 
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, and VDS.
Knowledge of SRDF Metro and storage replication technologies.
Familiarity with Cisco ACI and network virtualization concepts.
Expertise in Windows Server administration and clustering.
Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.

Your new role
As a SOC Engineer within the SOC, you will play a key role in supporting, enhancing and maintaining the organisation’s protective monitoring tools and cyber security controls.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring and reporting on the performance of SOC protective controls and tooling, investigating issues and escalating to internal teams or technology vendors where required.
• Supporting Security Analysts with security incident investigations as needed.
• Interpreting system logs and reports to improve logging quality, alerting, and utilisation of cyber tools.
• Creating and maintaining installation guides, administration processes, change documentation, and cyber detection rules in collaboration with Cyber Engineers and Analysts.

• Ensuring the integrity, accuracy and security of all data used and stored within the toolset.

• Experience working with SIEM and IPS tools (preferred).
• Good understanding of Cyber Security Operations and cyber threat landscapes.
• Advanced IT skills and experience working within an IT support or engineering environment.
