We are seeking a Software Engineer (Python and Java) to play a key role in advancing Maritime Internal Research and Development (IRAD) within our National Security & Defence (NS&D) Division. Working in a fast‑paced and collaborative environment, you will contribute to problem analysis, solution design, and the delivery of high‑quality software across a diverse range of applications. Based at our Farnborough office, with flexibility for primarily remote working, you will join a high‑performing, multidisciplinary team operating across the UK.

Key Activities

  • Develop Software Requirements and Software solutions/recommendations
  • Contribute to architecture and design baselines
  • Fast-paced experimentation and solution development to meet mission focused use cases
  • Software development of solutions to quality/safety/security software standards
  • Integration of bespoke and COTS software products
  • Configuration of software products and toolchains
  • Software modelling and simulation
  • Ability to demo capabilities and rapidly iterate based on feedback

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in Python and Java; experience with C++ and JavaScript is desirable
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Familiarity with Secure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, including tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, JFrog, Ansible, Grafana, Splunk, Confluence, and Kubernetes
  • Experience designing and implementing service‑oriented and microservices architectures
  • Containerisation experience, preferably using Docker
  • Use of automated testing frameworks and tools
  • Experience developing solutions on AWS
  • Delivery of software in line with quality, safety, and security standards, including Secure by Design principles
  • Understanding of integrating sensor inputs, effects of latency, decision and behaviour trees, failure modes, autonomy algorithms, performance tuning and assessing AI accuracy
  • Experience with LLMs, AI agents, and generative AI techniques
  • Exposure to AI‑assisted and agentic software engineering tools, frameworks, and patterns (e.g. MCP, Claude Code)
  • Integration and configuration of COTS products

The Role:

Leidos is seeking a Cyber Security and Information Assurance Engineer to support a key national security programme. The role is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining security measures across complex systems, providing subject matter expertise within the Information Security Management (ISM) function, and ensuring risks to Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability are effectively managed.

The engineer will contribute to security strategy, policy, and procedural development, act as a point of contact for client security assurance activity, and work closely with the ISM lead, programme suppliers, and technical teams.

What will I be doing?

  • Deliver day to day IT security objectives and lead assigned projects or assurance activities.
  • Integrate cyber assurance into multiple delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, SAFe, Incremental, DevOps).
  • Act as a point of contact for client security teams on assurance matters.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, ITHCs, incident response activities, and evaluate responses to system security requirements.
  • Support accreditation and continuous assurance using recognised risk frameworks (ISO, NIST) and structured analysis methods.
  • Maintain and develop ISMS documentation and security artefacts (SyOPS, RMADS, Security Management Plans).
  • Contribute to the analysis of system security weaknesses and communicate findings to programme leads and engineering teams.
  • Understand security monitoring tools, logs, alerts, and protective monitoring systems (e.g., SIEM/SOC).
  • Maintain the Information Security Risk Register and coordinate monthly vulnerability management activities, ensuring remediation is tracked, reported, and aligned with the Security POAP.
  • Support delivery of contracted service levels and participate in security governance forums such as Security Working Groups.
  • Assist with security policy development, cryptographic assurance, audit support, and compliance with regulatory and client standards.

  • Proven cybersecurity or information assurance experience.
  • Proficiency with common security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, SIEM).
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, CIS, OWASP, ISO 27001.

The Digitisation Team is a key part of the IT function. This is an exciting time to join a growing area of the Group.

Reporting to the Head of Digitisation, the Salesforce Engineering Manager will play a key role in the build and development of high performing engineering teams, whose role it is to deliver and continuously improve our Digitisation technology capabilities.

As well as being responsible for the development of the team members, you will deliver elements of the strategic short and long-term Salesforce roadmap. Working closely with Product Managers, you will be responsible for the delivery of strategic digitisation solutions.

In addition, to ensuring that the engineered solutions and changes are documented, you will work with Solutions Architects and other Engineering managers to produce and maintain detailed technical architecture designs for the Group’s Salesforce estate.
