Responsible for full installation of fire alarms and security systems. The engineer will travel to customer locations, install, program and commission systems in compliance with current relevant standards. In addition to new project delivery, the engineer will be required to respond to reactive fault calls. Here they will troubleshoot faulty systems to reach an accurate diagnosis enabling the repair to be affected with the aim of achieving a functioning and compliant system.
The engineer will also be required to perform planned maintenance services to Fire and Security systems. During these visits, systems will be checked to confirm that they are still fit for purpose regarding how the building may have changed either structurally or with how it is used. The engineer will check that the system is functioning fully and will look to anticipate what actions need to take place to achieve the aim of reduced unplanned fault callouts between service visits.
For each task, the engineer will complete the necessary paperwork (increasingly electronic type), noting all work performed, materials used and any further action necessary to achieve a compliant system.
To provide 24 hour call-out cover on a rota basis.

They are in a niche industry and are classed as technical specialists in their field. As a result of continued growth and increased demand for their products they are looking to expand their service department with an additional workshop and field service engineer.The Role:The role of a workshop and service engineer is incredibly varied and includes:Roughly 70-75% of the role is Workshop based - regular days with an early finish every Friday
Supporting the customer with product trails
Machinery modifications and test (electrical and mechanical)
Planning service visits
Technical support to customers
25-30% of the role will be Field Based:
Visiting customer sites all over the world
Machinery installations and commissioning
Breakdown support
Planned maintenance
Electrically the workshop and service engineer will be working on single and 3 phase systems, inverters, drives, relays, safety circuits and PLC’sMechanically the work includes conveyors, bearings, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics.Required Experience:
The workshop and service engineer must be flexible to travel and work away from home
The work both electrical and mechanical so you must have a multi-skilled engineering background
You will be a qualified engineer to NVQ 3 as a minimum in either electrical or mechanical engineering
Manufacturing experience is desirable, but ex Forces engineers would also be a great fit for this role
