The Opportunity: Field Service Engineer

The Impact you will have:

  • Attending customer locations to determine the likely scope of the work required, assessing and agreeing with the end user his/her work priorities, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to.
  • Both at outset and as work progresses, liaise with controller and customer on the range of expected work providing clarity and understanding by all parties the likely timescales and associated costs are understood.
  • Identifying the root cause of a breakdown in a timely manner and ensure the correct parts are obtained in the most cost-effective way. Use any available resources to achieve this, including when required the Briggs Technical team
  • Ensuring all work complies with engineering standards and, as relevant, Briggs/manufacturer specification/tolerances.
  • Carrying out inspection/checks on own work as it proceeds and ensuring that the equipment performs satisfactorily and is safe before handing back to the customer.
  • Identifying any further work required on a machine and ensure the customer is made aware of the fact, especially where a cost to the customer is to be incurred. The engineer should ensure that they maximise and potential revenue for equipment that has been damaged.
  • Completing all related job and service documentation is correctly, with necessary signatures/documents obtained from the customer.

Responsibilities:

We require an experienced individual of high calibre to assist in the flood risk and drainage teams at Tetra Tech across a range of activities such as flood risk solution design, hydraulic modelling and hydrology assessment, drainage design and SUDs. We work across a diverse range of clients delivering challenging infrastructure projects for the private and public sector.

Our projects typically range in size from £1m to £100m schemes covering defence, transport, local government, infrastructure, healthcare, education, commercial, industrial and residential development.You will work independently and proactively on technical aspects from a projects inception, determining client briefs, to the delivery and close out of projects in accordance with best practice and supported by senior colleagues throughout.

Overview

An opportunity is available for an experienced Algorithm / Software Engineer to support the migration of a large, complex legacy algorithm codebase from ADA into MATLAB within a regulated engineering environment. The role sits within a multi-disciplinary team and involves close collaboration with algorithm engineers, technical specialists, and downstream software teams.

This position would particularly suit candidates with a defence or aerospace background who are familiar with high-assurance software development and verification practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transcode a complex legacy algorithm codebase from ADA into MATLAB in collaboration with algorithm engineers and technical experts
  • Define, distribute, and review technical activities within the wider team to support efficient delivery within project timelines
  • Develop test harnesses and implement robust testing strategies to ensure functional equivalence between legacy ADA code and MATLAB implementations
  • Develop MATLAB algorithms in line with defined Codes of Practice to ensure compatibility with auto-coding toolchains

We are looking for a multi-skilled maintenance engineer (60:40 either bias) to join our fast-paced manufacturing facility in Milton Keynes. As a business, we have over 10 UK locations with an annual turnover well in excess of £400m, which we have reinvested into the plant.

Our facility is only 10 years old, with lots of brand-new state-of-the-art machinery, with plenty of land to expand onto with plans to nearly triple capacity over the next 5 years. Our process is fully automated with lots of technical aspects and varied work on a day-to-day basis.

Your roles and responsibilities will be both planned and reactive maintenance on our fully automated production lines. Our systems are mainly Siemens controls (S7 and TIA Portal) as well as work on conveyors, motors, inverters, and drives.

Youll be working in a substantial-sized team of 24 engineers across the department, your shift will consist of 4 shift engineers and 1 team leader.

Experience required.

  • Must be a multi skilled maintenance engineer 60:40 either mechanical or electrical bias An ability to fault find both mechanically and electrically is essential for this role

  • Prior experience in FMCG/Food/Beverages is essential for this role.

  • Qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (City and Guilds/HNC) us essential in a maintenance related discipline.

  • Ability to read both mechanical/electrical schematics
