An Electrical / Electromechanical Design Engineer with a strong interest in manufacturing, you will be able to make an immediate impact and quickly operate effectively within the role, joining a rapidly growing global leader in subsea technology, supporting design projects in manufacturing, offshore energy, and high-pressure subsea technology sectors worldwide.
As a skilled and knowledgeable Design Engineer proficient in the design of cables you will be responsible for design, analysis and qualification of commercial cables that are critical to the performance and reliability of our customers offshore engineer and defence systems, and special purpose applications.
Working Arrangements
During the early stages, you will be required to work closely with the business, including time spent at the South East head office to support onboarding and integration into the team. Location near London, Cambridge and Bristol appropriate moving forwards.
Key Responsibilities
To lead projects in the design of cables (combining various functions such as breathing gases, other fluids, electrical power, communication, hydraulics and pneumatics), primarily for commercial diving applications but also for offshore engineer defence and other special purposes.
As an electrical design engineer, you will select and size functional components (hoses, cables, optical fibres) and their lay-up, plus selection of insulation and jacket materials, braiding, armouring and overall umbilical configuration, to meet the customers specification, applicable industry and classification requirements,
Writing test specifications and qualification procedures for the umbilical in the relevant customer-specified scenario (e.g. under tension, torsion, compression and cyclic bending), when needed.
Providing technical support to the production team during the manufacturing process, to ensure quality and conformity to design.
Investigating and resolving cable-related field failures or performance issues, and implementing robust design improvements into future cable designs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelors or higher degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics, or similar
Experienced senior engineering designer using 2D CAD or 3DCAD / and /or solidworks
Be able to produce umbilical proposals, analyses and designs to meet customer requirements, under supervision; and to author the associated engineering documents and drawings.
Good understanding of subsea practice, technology, equipment and technical standards.
Sound knowledge of electrical theory (voltage stress, resistance and voltage drop, current and current rating, and related heating effects in air and water), hydraulics/pneumatics (pressure drop, fluid mechanics) and mechanical engineering (material science, stress and strain, fatigue).

Based at our Luton Manufacturing site as the Manufacturing Engineering Manager Tooling youll be working across both our Defence and Civil business lines. You will provide and lead a team of Tooling and Cad Engineers in the design, manufacture and maintenance and control of all Site Tools.
This will involve the technical capability to create and design tools as solutions to support the manufacturing operations. Youll be accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly. The role involves the creation of significant tooling designs from initial concept through to production for the production of aircraft transparencies and Ice Protection Tooling, jigs and fixtures.
Among other activities, this will include responsibilities for 4 large CNC machines on site and calibration of current and the development of new or existing tooling. Supporting Manufacturing Engineering teams may also be required. The successful candidate will be experienced in a relevant engineering discipline and have a hands on approach, be able to prioritise jobs, be comfortable liaising with suppliers and other departments.
Furthermore responsibilities for Manufacturing Engineering Configuration control, using SAP and more traditional documentation such as Specifications and Routings.
The role will also provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to a small team of Tooling Engineers on the Luton site, supporting the Manufacturing Engineering Managers in matters of staff performance and development. The role will also be responsible for the overall load and capacity management of the tooling team members and provide reports and updates on tooling work plans as required by the Manufacturing Engineering Managers and/or Site Head of ME.
Core operational hours at our Luton site are: 07:30 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday & 07:30 - 12:30 Friday. There is the requirement for flexibility for occasional travel in the UK.

You’ll have a real opportunity to define, shape and govern the architecture for all systems involved in onboard retail — including point of sale devices, retail platforms, catalogue and pricing systems, payments, supply chain integration, and post flight reconciliation. The role partners with delivery teams, suppliers and business stakeholders to simplify complexity and drive technical change across the domain.
