We are seeking experienced NDT Engineers with specific pressure systems knowledge to take up positions in its expanding Asset Integrity Management team based in Derby, UK. The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering solutions for our clients. Most of the teams activities are focused on the Conventional Power and Clean Energy sectors (primarily CCGT, Biomass and Energy from Waste plants).

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Site visits to carry out plant inspections.
  • Coordinating / supervising inspection activities e.g. on outages (depending on qualifications and experience).
  • Producing high quality inspection reports.
  • Reviewing and authorising inspection reports (depending on qualifications and experience).
  • Estimating and managing project costs.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of standards, legislation, good practice, methods and use of appropriate equipment and software.
  • The role will involve travel, both within the UK and abroad, to meet project requirements.

Experience:
You should have:

  • Good practical experience in the inspection of a range of plant components, in particular steam and water pressure parts (both in the new / as-installed condition and after in-service degradation has taken place).
  • An appreciation of the damage / degradation mechanisms that can take place on the components being inspected.
  • Working in conventional power or clean energy sectors (primarily CCGT, Biomass and Energy from Waste plants).

It would also be an advantage to have:

  • Experience in the ultrasonic testing of branch connections.
  • Experience of working on plant outages, including a proven track record in a coordinating / supervisory role for outage inspection activities, including liaison with the client and other key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • As a minimum you must hold PCN Level 2D certification in magnetic particle testing, penetrant testing and ultrasonic testing of welds.
  • The following would be a particular advantage:
    • Certification to PCN Level 2 in phased array ultrasonic testing and / or TOFD.
    • Certification to PCN Level 3 in any testing method.
    • Project management experience.
    • NEBOSH General Certificate

Teams within plant performance undertake a wide range of thermal hydraulic analyses ranging from detailed predictions of heat transfer in individual components using 3D computational fluid dynamics so that their operational life can be accurately assessed, to 1D systems code models of an entire plant to predict overall performance and ensure its safe operation. The Project Engineer will be responsible for providing effective technical support and guidance on multiple precision engineering projects simultaneously.

Your duties will include: -

  • Liaise with clients, design, engineering and production teams to ensure effective manufacture of orders
  • Produce works instructions and package of works
  • Provide technical support to engineering, design and production teams
  • Produce regular project progress updates and reporting
  • Monitor and report on project /order progress
  • Review supply chain and procurement functions and negotiate cost reductions, improved service etc.

Candidate:

The Project Engineer will have at least 3 years project engineer or manufacturing engineer experience in a CNC machining environment.

You will be familiar with and manufacture of parts / components for industries such as MOD, Nuclear, Marine, Aerospace, Oil & gas sectors.

You will have excellent Project Engineer skills and you’ll be competent in the use of ERP/MRP systems and you will have HNC/HND in mechanical engineering and you will have a CNC engineering background.

AutoCAD and design engineering skills will be advantageous.

What You’ll Be Doing

Own the full P&C design process - from concept to construction-ready.
Collaborate with HV plant, cables, civils, and project managers to streamline delivery.
Build strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
Plan resources and mentor junior engineers.
Ensure designs meet quality standards and client expectations.
Create and review tender specs, AC/DC schematics, and protection diagrams.
Approve detailed drawings and third-party designs.
Specify relays, CTs, VTs, and other key equipment.
Run protection grading studies and generate relay settings.
Support commissioning plans and attend panel meetings.What You’ll Bring

Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar).
8+ years in electrical design, with 4+ years on UK transmission projects (NGET, SSEN).
Deep knowledge of HV substations (132kV–400kV) and UK standards.
Hands-on experience with protection relays, CT/VT sizing, and AC/DC drawings.
Skilled in ETAP, DIgSILENT, and familiar with IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus.
Strong leadership, safety mindset, and attention to detail.
