The Electrical Design Engineer role:

This is a new role reporting into the Head of Design who is based in Dublin. Therefore, we are looking for a technical expert, with an electrical design back ground, who is able to work on an autonomous basis, influencing design strategy and driving innovation. The role will involve working directly with project leads, production teams and clients to shape projects from concept to completion. With initial onboarding taking place in Dublin for 3 weeks and an estimated 2 days a month there after. Design & Development:

JOB PURPOSE

The Role

As an Applications Engineer, you will take ownership of LV switchgear projects from sales handover through to manufacture, test and delivery. Acting as the technical point of contact, you ll work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to specification.

This is a hands-on, project-focused role combining technical coordination, electrical design involvement and shopfloor engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing project handovers from the sales team to validate technical scope
  • Supporting electrical design work including schematics and panel layouts (AutoCAD Electrical)
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients throughout project delivery
  • Conducting site visits and surveys as required
  • Selecting components and producing parts lists/BOMs
  • Liaising with fabrication and manufacturing teams through the build process
  • Monitoring projects through the shopfloor and test stages
  • Supporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and final sign-off
  • Managing contract variations and ensuring customer satisfaction

What We re Looking For

  • Experience working with LV switchgear (essential)
  • Electrical qualification (Level 3 or above)
  • Background in applications engineering, project engineering or contracts engineering
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and understand panel layouts
  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar 2D design tools
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple moving parts
  • Practical or hands-on experience within switchgear manufacturing is advantageous
  • Good communication skills and a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset

Planning and Organisation:

  • Support achievement of business s quality and warranty targets.

Senior Systems Engineer Requirements:

Have a degree in an associated mechanical engineering discipline, with a sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles (showing an attention to detail, and being data driven).

Have a sound grasp of the engine product development cycle, and expertise in engine system and component specification, design, development and sign-off (using relevant tools).

5+ years previous experience of full system design for diesel or gasoline engines is essential.

Practical understanding of ICE operating principles (e.g. mechanical/electromechanical design, thermodynamics, and tribology).

Demonstratable experience in use of commercially available 2D drawing and 3D Modelling packages with knowledge of mechanical engineering GD&T and manufacturing processes.

Understanding of the role of emissions performance relating to ICE.

Knowledge and experience in Model-Based-System-Engineering is preferred.

Previous experience of 1D simulation (in AMEsim or similar) is advantageous, but not required.

Experienced supplier interactions and management, with good commercial awareness.

Understand and contribute to the management of the project.

Be able to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.

Demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels.

Show flexibility - the role requires travel to customer and supplier sites.

Be willing to contribute in a dynamic, collaborative, and cross-discipline team setting.
