HV Protection Design Engineer Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering protection and control system designs for high-voltage (HV) distribution networks, supporting a range of schemes, including BESS, up to and including 132kV. The engineer will develop, validate, and integrate protection, control, and SCADA designs, ensuring ongoing safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team and contribute to projects from concept design through to detailed engineering and delivery support.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop detailed protection application designs for feeders, transformers, and busbars at 11 kV–132 kV, including customer interface schemes

* Develop connection and tripping logic diagrams, configure relays and generate setting files, implement IEC 61850 and DNP3 communication schemes, and prepare programmable logic documentation

* Specify CTs/VTs, relays, panels, and multicore wiring per manufacturer and NPg standards

* Provide technical review and feedback on designs submitted by ICPs and external teams

* Conduct protection coordination studies, produce settings calculations, and prepare associated drawings and schematics

* Ensure all designs comply with Northern Powergrid technical standards and relevant industry regulations

* Liaise with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to deliver projects to schedule and to the required quality standards

* Provide technical support during project delivery, including factory acceptance testing and site commissioning as required.

Candidate Requirements:

* Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

* Proven experience in control and protection design within the UK electricity distribution or transmission sector (11kV, 33kV, 132kV, 400kV)

* Familiarity with protection relays, relay configuration, logic programming and IEC 61850 engineering

* Strong understanding of DNO technical standards; prior experience with Northern Powergrid requirements is advantageous

* Knowledge of ENA, IEC and NPg standards and policies

* Proficiency in relevant design and analysis software (e.g., DIGSILENT, ETAP, AutoCAD)

* Skilled at reading and understanding schematics, settings schedules, and manufacturer specifications

We are recruiting for a Static Maintenance Engineer to work in a Service and Maintenance team, this role is based on a static site working with usually one or two other building service maintenance engineers to help them during their tasks, this role will not only require M&E Planned and reactive works but some install as and when required and also will include fabric maintenance such as basic joinery, plumbing etc and not just electrical works every engineer needs to turn their hand to general maintenance works.

The organisation has seen steady growth doubling in size over the past few years and has contracts signed up a full order book through to 2030 already.

Performing PPM’s, repairs, and call outs there is an on-call rota 1 in 5 currently across the site

About the role:

As an EC&I Technician, you’ll provide electrical, control and instrumentation support to the plant mainly focussed on planned and unplanned maintenance activities. You’ll also provide some support on modification and replacement projects.

Based in Uddingston near Glasgow, Daldowie Treatment Works is one of the largest plants of its type in Europe. For nearly 25 years the plant has focussed on creating wdf pellets from sewage sludge reducing environmental impacts as well as creating a new fuel source replacing the need to burn fossil fuels.

Day to day you’ll support the process by providing timely repairs to breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance activities including instrumentation calibrations. You’ll ensure that all work is managed and recorded correctly to maintain compliance, inspiring safe ways of working across the site, setting a high standard of EC&I engineering activity, and supporting in rolling out new processes, systems, and ways of working to your colleagues on site.

You’ll be joining a tight knit, dedicated team based on site, who are also part of a larger group with a wide support network.

Who we’re looking for:

You’ll need to have experience in solving problems and being a strong communicator to be able to persuade and influence others.
You should be educated to at least ONC level in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering and should have served a recognised Apprenticeship.

Specifically, you’ll need plant experience in the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment, including but not restricted to, 3 phase motors and associated switchgear, variable speed drives, soft starts, circuit breakers, motor control centres and 3 phase and single-phase distribution systems.

You’ll be able interpret schematic drawings, single line diagrams and PLC ladder logic.

Ideally, you’ll also have process plant experience in the maintenance, repair, installation and calibration of plant instrumentation and control systems including, but not restricted to, systems for the measurement of temperature, pressure, level, flow, oxygen, and ph.

We are recruiting for a Technical Event Production Engineer with current Tricaster Professional or Expert certification to deliver live event planning & production, remote production & filming services for a medical science client’s internal communication. The object of this role is to provide high-level media to our client in various forms, utilising a state-of-the-art broadcast studio and software editing packages. Whilst there are regular duties to be undertaken, the demands upon the function can be unpredictable, often with tight deadlines, and the individual must have proven skills in dealing with such matters. Playing a key part in media production in relation to the client’s internal communication from pre-planning, identifying technical requirements, attending meetings in an advisory capacity, and event production and editing execution. The Technical Event Production Engineer will also play a key role in supporting a wider team of events engineers within the EMEA region and would be expected to offer support and training to the wider AV Team. Reinforcement of the AV Team’s Events Technicians forms part of the requirements for this role. Partner with the Event Innovation SME to identify, evaluate, and pilot new event features and tools that enhance the overall attendee experience.

This is a full-time role, attracting a salary of £60k, which for the right candidate is negotiable.

Driving will be necessary, as well as flexibility due to the demands of the clients’ events.

The role is multi-faceted - primarily the operation of Tricaster events for our client, and this is where the emphasis of the role is. Candidates must be Tricaster certified and have strong experience in Tricaster operation.

A typical week will be 2-3 days in the Luton office, operating and preparing equipment for events. Regular visits to the Cambridge site, at least weekly, will be expected, plus frequent European travel – there is no scope for working from home. The Role:

This role is part of our BlueBear Business in Bedfordshire.

You will be required to support a mixture of R&D and product development activities within a leading autonomy and unmanned systems company. Blue Bear continuously innovate within core areas such as UAV autopilots, mission systems, ground control stations, and all supporting systems and infrastructure.

You will be keen to get involved in all development areas and have a good track history/proven track record in both problem solving and quality software development.

Working as part of a team in a multidisciplinary team you will have good communication skills. A can-do attitude and a genuine passion for innovative technology will be advantageous.

Development of low-level drivers for UAV for control of effectors, reading instrumentation and integration of novel sensors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primarily, your role will be the design, implementation and test of real time embedded software to support both experimental activities and product development, ensuring real-time safety, security and redundancy considerations are met.
  • Support the firmware lead with Firmware roadmaps.
  • Be a key member of a skilled team in the delivery of firmware for high-paced projects.
  • The opportunity will enable the successful candidate to gain knowledge of cutting-edge autonomous systems.
  • You will be responsible for delivery, reporting and presentation of technical work and writing and submitting any necessary documentation.
  • Delivery and maintenance of the embedded systems software within the UAV specifically.
  • Support development of automated HWIL test environments.

Skills/Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years experience of embedded Linux.
  • Sound understanding of Linux kernel configuration and tuning.
  • Experienced user of Linux OS build toolchains such as Yocto and Buildroot.
  • Programming languages: C, C++, Python, Scripting (including Bash).
  • Ability to work from application code right down to bare metal.
  • Experience with NXP iMX8, NXP S32K3 and larger MPSoC style application processors.
  • Experience of working with core communication interfaces such as UART, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, CAN, PCIe.
  • Experienced at firmware and hardware level debugging and fault finding (e.g. use of JTAG, examining schematics).
  • Able to interpret relevant data from electronic schematics and component datasheets and application notes for the purposes code writing.
  • Experience of Electronics design, development and testing.
  • Awareness of FPGAs and VHDL is beneficial.
  • RTOS coding and debugging.
  • Awareness of assurance frameworks (DO-178C etc.) and secure by design.
  • Conducting code reviews.
  • Familiar with use of version control tools such as Git.
  • Existing SC Clearance would be advantageous.
