Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Shift Technician to join a critical data centre facility in Heathrow. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical infrastructure within a live data centre environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for engineers with strong building services or critical environment experience to further develop within the Data Centre sector.

Duties

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and breakdown response across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Operate and maintain critical infrastructure including UPS systems, generators, HV systems, PDUs, CRAC units, and associated plant
  • Fault find using BMS, alarm data, and graphical information to diagnose plant and equipment issues
  • Ensure plant faults and defects are rectified promptly to maintain uptime and reliability
  • Supervise subcontractors on site, ensuring works are completed safely and to the required standard
  • Prepare and follow RAMS, permits to work, and safe systems of work
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance records, and associated documentation
  • Ensure all critical areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and operational condition
  • Support the Shift Manager and stand in where required
  • Participate in incident response and emergency scenario drills

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance within a critical environment
  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services discipline
  • HV qualification / willingness to obtain AP status
  • Strong understanding of critical plant including UPS, generators, HV/LV systems, and cooling infrastructure
  • Good working knowledge of BMS systems
  • Experience supervising subcontractors and working with permit-to-work systems
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment
