Summary

The purpose of the role is to support the operations teams in delivering a safe, compliant HV installations, meeting the clients specification and functional needs whilst ensuring that safety and quality procedures are fully implemented during the design, planning, installation and commissioning phases.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Demonstrate appropriate health & safety leadership to ensure the safety first and foremost message is visible and alive throughout all activities.
  • Lead the HV commissioning management on projects to achieve company, team and individual objectives relating to the implementation of best value design, management of opportunities, risk mitigation, and technically excellent installations.
  • Provide commissioning advice and assistance to other areas of the business and support business development, actively promoting our HV commissioning and operational capability.
  • Assist the commissioning manager HV in the production of project commissioning fees. Prepare site visit reports for senior stakeholder, highlighting progress, risks, opportunities and resource issues.
  • In conjunction with the project team, ensure that commissioning documentation is produced in line with the NG Bailey standard procedures. Manage the commissioning activities in line with documentation, highlighting any issues, risks, opportunities as necessary to ensure the commissioning procedure is successfully completed.
  • Assist the project manager to define the work scope of external commissioning. Coordinate as required the commissioning activities in line with agreed scope.
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial customer, key supplier and internal relationships. Promote the HV team and actively seek out new opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of new and existing equipment and seek opportunities to gain specific knowledge of HV commissioning best practice.
  • Apply current legislation regarding standard, CDM, quality control, commissioning, safety & environmental issues relating to all activities.

  • Significant experience working on high voltage installations at authorised person level
  • Significant experience of managing quality control procedures including off site witness testing
  • Fully qualified installation electrician or equivalent practical qual
  • HV AP 1 course or approved equivalent

The Opportunity:

Using state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll provide the power behind our vehicles working in our Engineering Operations Powertrain team. The Battery Test Operations Team is part of Powertrain Test Operations within Product Engineering Operations. The team maintains productive test workflow for HV Battery development at our internal test labs at ABE Lyons Park (Coventry) and BatLab (Gaydon), delivering high quality electrical characterisation and performance data at cell, module and pack level. The team also supports HV battery activity at other internal JLR sites and External test facilities.

The Battery Test Delivery Engineer roles will focus on the efficient delivery of quality assured test data in support of the development and design verification (DV) of HV Traction Battery Systems. Based at either the Advanced Battery Engineering lab (ABE) in Coventry or BatLab in Gaydon, you’ll operate across the facility, co-ordinating test preparation, planning and delivery, managing workflows for your allocated tests, and leading problem-solving activities to ensure the satisfaction of customer test requests, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of battery test delivery by ensuring thorough preparation of both the test facility and test components, while adhering to agreed test schedules to enable the timely and accurate delivery of data.
  • Provide technical expertise in the setup and execution of battery tests, including the measurement and interpretation of data that will inform key engineering decisions.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the activities of small project teams to ensure testing objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

Our OEM Client based in Gaydon, is searching for a Vehicle Integration Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a contract position with a proposed end date of 31st March 2027.

Umbrella Pay Rate: £27.03 per hour.

The Opportunity:

You’ll be a Vehicle Integration Engineer driving the development of new and existing vehicle architectures. Responsible for driving integration of new technologies into new and existing vehicle architectures. Drive functional and attribute target delivery, acting as the voice of the customer to lead any arbitration required.

Responsibilities:

  • The technical arbitrator, integrating and delivering the engineering for a defined group as part of the whole vehicle development whilst ensuring compatibility with GRID, the commodity/system strategies and functional targets.
  • Support group functional integration for given vehicle, to drive out complexity and deliver the most efficient technical solutions.
  • Work closely with Vehicle Attribute Robustness team to drive delivery of embedded design quality, service and manufacturing requirements.
  • Drive vehicle technical data progression (CAD, DV, AIMS, Build, Test & Releasing etc…) with squads & interfacing team leads.
  • Oversee alignment on, and subsequent delivery of, Minimum Viable Product into both virtual and physical verification and validation through life of Programme.
  • Drive cross squad resolution, ensuring timely escalation to Technical Group Leader.
  • Support study & Agile spike activities to solve complex engineering problems.
