I am working with a scaling London based technology business where Machine Learning and AI sit at the core of the product.

The platform is built around a large-scale dataset created by crawling the web and collecting millions of listings from multiple external sources. That raw data is then structured, matched and analysed to power a suite of SaaS tools used across the market.

One of the core technical challenges is that the same entity can appear multiple times across different sources, often with slightly different attributes or descriptions. The platform uses a combination of neural networks and rule based systems to match records and build a reliable dataset over time. They are now hiring a Head of Data to take ownership of their data and AI platform.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will lead a team of 5-6 across Data Science and Data Engineering while remaining technically involved in modelling, machine learning deployment and architectural decisions.

The platform runs on AWS and includes large-scale crawlers ingesting significant volumes of external data. However, the architecture has evolved over time and data currently sits across multiple siloed systems.

They need someone who understands what good looks like in a modern data platform and can bring structure, coherence and technical direction.

We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with active DV clearance to join a high-impact engineering team working on mission-critical, secure systems.

You’ll be operating in a modern, cloud-native environment with a strong focus on AWS, Kubernetes, automation, and engineering excellence. This is a hands-on role where you’ll shape the platform, not just maintain it.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing, building, and operating secure AWS-based platforms
• Building and running Kubernetes clusters and containerised workloads
• Driving an automation-first approach across infrastructure, CI/CD, and operations
• Developing tooling and platform services using Python and/or Java
• Owning and improving CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation or similar)
• Improving reliability, observability, and resilience across critical systems
• Working closely with software engineers, security, and platform teams
• Contributing to architecture decisions and setting engineering best practices
• Mentoring engineers and raising the bar for DevOps and platform engineering

What we’re looking for

• Active DV clearance (essential)
• Strong experience as a Senior DevOps / Platform / SRE Engineer
• Hands-on AWS experience in production environments
• Strong Kubernetes experience (deploying, operating, scaling clusters)
• Solid programming experience with Python and/or Java
• Strong focus on automation across infrastructure, delivery, and operations
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, etc.)
• CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.)
• Good Linux knowledge and scripting skills
• Experience working in secure, regulated, or high-assurance environments
• A pragmatic, engineering-led mindset with strong ownership

Nice to have

• Experience in defence, government, or highly regulated sectors
• Software, DevOps, SRE or platform engineering background
• Knowledge of secure networking, zero-trust, or compliance-driven architectures
• Experience operating systems at scale
