WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced technical Lead Test Engineer to join our delivery teams, supporting a range of projects, from small electronic prototypes with embedded software to complex on-prem and cloud systems projects.
We are looking for a self-starter, someone with a passion for Test, ideally from a Technical and/or Systems Integration background. The successful candidate will join existing SW Development teams and help define good test process, lead and deliver early-stage testing with the SW Dev. teams, and help grow the Test Practice as the Portfolio continues to grow.
This role demands strong technical leadership, excellent communication skills, flexibility and a good understanding of engineering and testing practices. You will be responsible for defining test strategies, planning and leading test activities, ensuring alignment with project goals under some very short delivery timescales.
The work spans several customers and a broad range of technologies and so requires a flexible and adaptive approach to testing whilst maintaining appropriate rigor.

The Role

Raising the Right First Time percentage rate for completed assemblied - after each product is assembled, if it results in failure at testing, problem solving will be carried out alongside root cause analysis on the failures to understand them and identify corrective measures for future assemblies
Collecting data over a period of time to identify trends, continually reviewing after corrective measures put in place to ensure trends in right direction .
Reviewing and enhancing SOPs - Auditing and reviewing existing SOP’s to ensure they are enforced and identifying where they are lacking, to build revisions and improvements into the QMS system.
Maintaining accreditations in place
Hosting external audits - taking any non-conformances from these and running 8D’s to identify solutions

This is a critical role responsible for the end-to-end management of Bills of Materials (BoM) for Units Under Test (UUT) across our cutting-edge Battery, EDU, and Engine Test environments.
You will be the central pivot point between Engineering, Procurement, and Test Operations, ensuring that every kit is complete, accurate, and delivered exactly when needed to keep our test schedules on track.

Proven experience managing test kitting processes within an engineering or automotive testing environment.
Education & Qualifications
Minimum: NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
Preferred: An Undergraduate Degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable Attributes
Experience with automotive testing instrumentation and calibration procedure
continuous improvement mindset with the ability to constructively challenge existing processes.
Experience navigating fast-paced, multi-disciplinary teams with shifting priorities.

As a Software Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the quality of the software. You’ll sit closely with all the software developers, providing feedback and learning from each other how to achieve the best quality.
