This is a key role within the business, you will be responsible for developing existing products, resolving non-conformance issues and continuous improvement. Additionally, you will be innovative, having the ability to research and develop new products to take to market.
Key Responsibilities:
* Product development / innovation, R&D
* Engineering / production process improvements.
* Design Engineering, using AutoCAD, Solidworks & Keyshot
* Taking concepts from idea to saleable product
* Patenting new products
* Developing existing product lines
* Liaising with customers to research and develop products for their specific requirements
* Reviewing metal material choices, metal treatment options, metal coatings etc….
Our client offers a lovely work environment, with a friendly team. This role has no direct reports, but will require the successful candidate to liaise regularly with customers, suppliers and other team members
Requirements:
Mechanical Engineering Degree.
Experience of working with metal-based products.
Experience in using AutoCAD, Solidworks and Keyshot.
Ability to work autonomously on projects, confident and capable.
Innovative, able to find solutions, bring ideas for new products, through R&D and design
Friendly, professional and committed.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Nice to haves, but not essential:
PLC programming skills
Proven record of taking a product from concept to a saleable product.
Experience of getting a product through the patent process with legal support would also be an advantage.
Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 5pm / Friday 8.30am – 4pm

The Role
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, improving existing products and creating new concepts
Produce 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs and documentation using SolidWorks within a PDM environment
Apply DFM/DFA principles, safety standards and compliance requirements
Perform FEA using SolidWorks Simulation and prepare clear technical reports

Collaborate with Product Management, Production, Quality and Supply Chain
Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments and project lifecycle activities

About You
HND/Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Product Design Engineering (or related discipline)
5+ years’ experience in mechanical product design/development, ideally including fluid-handling equipment
Skilled in SolidWorks 3D CAD and familiar with PDM systems
Experience with FEA, DFMA, GD&T and testing processes
Strong communication, attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Self-motivated, able to work independently and meet deadlines
Desirable: SolidWorks certification, exposure to electrical integration, chemical dosing experience, and stage-gate processes

The Composite Design Engineer will:
Provide technical support and guidance during the manufacturing process to ensure components are produced with precision and adhere to design specifications.

Use surfacing and solid modelling approaches to create detailed 3D CAD models.
Create detailed engineering drawings and laminate books for component manufacture.

The Composite Design Engineer will have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Industry experience working as a Composite Designer within either a motorsport company or composite manufacturer making components for motorsport applications.
Knowledge of composite inspection techniques including CMM, laser scanning and NDT.
