Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment faults;

The Role:

The Aftersales & Warranty Engineer is responsible for providing a single, professional point of contact for customers for all aftersales and warranty-related issues. The role ensures that customer concerns are managed promptly, effectively, and with a strong focus on quality, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Working within the Quality function and reporting to the Quality Manager, the Aftersales & Warranty Engineer coordinates the assessment, investigation, and resolution of issues, ensuring that outcomes are communicated clearly to customers and that corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are completed.

The role works closely with the Site Services team (who attend site to carry out physical works), Production, Engineering, Planning, and Operational Excellence to ensure that aftersales and warranty activity drives improved product reliability, enhanced customer satisfaction, and meaningful organisational learning.

A high standard of communication, customer care, technical understanding, and quality-focused problem-solving is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the single point of contact for all customers regarding aftersales and warranty matters.

• Manage the full lifecycle of aftersales and warranty cases, from first notification through to final closure.

• Conduct on-site inspections to diagnose faults, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

• Prepared comprehensive Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all site activities.

• Produce Bills of Material (BOMs) to secure required parts and materials for rectification work.

• Conduct robust root cause analysis (RCA) on all aftersales and warranty issues, ensuring accurate diagnosis and high-quality resolution.

• Work with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to agree and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

• Maintain clear, accurate, and timely communication with customers, ensuring expectations are managed professionally.

• Coordinate with the Site Services department to arrange on-site attendance, providing them with clear instructions, documentation, and context.

• Work with the Planning team to ensure aftersales and warranty interventions are scheduled effectively and safely.

• Monitor progress of site works, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.

• Assess warranty claims to determine validity in line with company policy and warranty terms.

• Record and track all aftersales and warranty events, ensuring accurate data capture and full traceability.

• Analyse aftersales and warranty trends to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.

• Provide structured feedback to Engineering, Production, and Operational Excellence to support product and process improvements.

• Contribute to continuous improvement activity, including failure mode analysis, design improvements, and service process enhancements.

• Support the Quality Manager with reporting on warranty performance, aftersales performance, customer satisfaction, and recurring root causes.

• Ensure all actions and decisions support the organisations commitment to quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

• Experience of working with transformers essential.

Morson Edge are working on behalf of a major player within the Energy Sector who have a current requirement for an experienced Welding Engineer to join their established, site-based, Transverse Engineering Team in Bridgwater, Somerset. This is a (renewable) contract position - inside IR35.

The successful candidate will comprise part of a wider, multi-national Joint Design Office team responsible for supporting Review and Acceptance of design activities of a classified plant. This dynamic and multi-disciplinary design team undertake the important intelligent customer role on behalf of the Project.

The Joint Design Office (JDO) has been created to reinforce site-based engineering to quickly respond to engineering queries/problems coming from site construction to deliver the schedule and to deliver an increased scope of work. By being located close to the construction works the JDO team are able to quickly react and provide technical solutions/answers - thereby crucially assisting construction teams swiftly and efficiently.

Overview

• The post-holder will be a Welding or Materials Engineer, contributing to the technical assessment of engineering queries raised by the site Contractor on the M&E scope across the CI/BOP and Nuclear Island buildings.
• The role will consist of both client and responsible designer activities.
• The role will be focused on the welding discipline but will interface with other disciplines and with several parties, such the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).

Key Responsibilities

• Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the MEH Contractor on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site Experts when needed.
• Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met.
• Support the integrated team with technical assessment of contractor queries (welding defects, and other welding and NDT associated modifications)
• Carry out nuclear safety and environmental assessment (categorisation) of queries
• Challenge design decisions so that engineering and design aligns with the project strategy.
• Assist in co-ordinating support from other external organisations.
• Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points.
• Assess technical risk and subsequently address this risk.
• Maintain a strong relationship with EPR Engineering (Responsible Designer)

The Skills

• Typically degree or equivalent experience in a welding engineering discipline.
• Experience/understanding of welding engineering and NDT in nuclear or high hazard industries
• Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry.
• Knowledge of the construction / installation industry.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM
• Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.

• Take responsibility for proving/testing system/software configuration activities and cause and effect functionality.
• Be aware of the programme for commissioning activities against project milestones.
• Provide technical support to the engineering and design team as required.
• Ensure timesheets and all other relevant paperwork is completed on time.
• Undertake any relevant training as required.
• Ensure all relevant H&S requirements are complied with.
• Secondment to the Service Department as required by the business or on to any other projects as required.
• Ensure the health, safety and welfare of yourself and the team in accordance with Company policy.
