Job Description

Experian Marketing Services are looking for an experienced Data Product Owner to lead development, and lifecycle management of data products. You will focus on maximising the value of data assets. This will be achieved by transforming data capabilities into well-documented, high-quality, and reusable data products. These data products will support analytics, operational reporting, and downstream consumption. Moreover, they will do so in a compliant and governed manner.

This is a Nottingham-based Hybrid role (40% in the office), you will report to the Programme Manager for Experian Marketing Services.

  • Own & prioritise the backlog for one or more data products, including curated datasets, analytical models, data services, and internal data platforms.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders across data engineering, analytics, architecture, governance, and business domains to translate business outcomes into clear data product requirements.
  • Define, create, and maintain comprehensive product and data documentation, including Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), data contracts, schemas, data lineage, data dictionaries, and usage guidance to enable safe and effective self-service consumption.
  • Write clear, well-structured user stories and acceptance criteria that reflect data quality, performance, scalability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with delivery teams through sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure data products are delivered incrementally and meet agreed standards.
  • Act as the point of accountability for data product readiness, including documentation completeness, data quality assurance, stakeholder sign-off, and operational handover.
  • Support analytics, reporting, and downstream product teams by clearly communicating data product capabilities, constraints, and appropriate usage.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager working primarily with data platforms or data products with a focus on turning complex data concepts into clear requirements, delivery plans, and consumable documentation for technical & non-technical partners.
  • Experience with data product management principles, including data modelling, metadata management, data quality, and lifecycle governance.
  • Experience with data governance, privacy, and regulatory obligations relevant to enterprise data use.
  • Strong partner management skills with the ability to align technical teams and users.
  • Comfortable working with data engineers, analysts, architects, and governance teams in advanced Agile environments
  • Experience working with Jira, Azure DevOps, and Aha

The role sits within the Chief Data Office (CDO) and reports to the Head of Data Platforms.

The Data Platform Architect plays a pivotal role in enabling business value by owning and managing the data platform reference architecture to enabling the organisation. This position partners with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation to incrementally build a usable, reliable, high-quality data capability and solutions to support the business objectives. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, collaboration to work across multiple stakeholders.

The key accountabilities for the role are as follows:

Technical Oversight & Delivery

Define and owns a multi-year data platform architecture roadmap which supports the business outcome, specifically to support data, reporting, advanced analytics and AI

  • Ensures architectural coherence across Fabric, Azure, Databricks and AI environments
  • Establish and maintain the enterprise data platform architecture, covering ingestion, storage, compute, orchestration, governance, quality, and consumption.
  • Translate architecture principles into pragmatic, implementable guidance for engineering and delivery teams.
  • Assess and recommend emerging data and analytics technologies and platform features to implement as part of the platform roadmap
  • Conduct design assurance and solution reviews across platform and product squads

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with enterprise architects, cloud platform, security and data governance to design holistic services for the business and customers

  • Work closely with platform tenant teams to understand challenges and enable new features and capabilities for the organisation
  • Translate business needs and data strategy into architectural blueprints and solution patterns
  • Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams to align on priorities and progress

Operational Excellence

Work across the data function with Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, Modelling and Business requirement to curate a set of design patterns to enable repeatable solution delivery

  • Define architectural principles that optimise reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Define guardrails for resilience, compliance, and security-by-design.

About You

Qualifications

  • Degree in a technical discipline (e.g. computer science, engineering, maths, physics) or evidence of equivalent practical experience

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Proven experience providing architectural leadership and influencing cross-functional technical teams
  • Strong technical hand on experience in designing, building and maintaining data platform in an Azure, Databricks and Fabric ecosystem
  • Experience designing data platforms using Medallion or Lakehouse architecture.
  • Strong understanding of data governance: lineage, cataloguing, metadata, RBAC, data privacy.
  • Experience with Lamda and multimodal data systems
  • History of delivering overall strategic architecture outcomes through diverse project deliveries
  • Solid grasp of data engineering, business intelligence, artificial intelligence and modern development /deployment techniques

Skills:
