Morson Edge are working on behalf of a major player within the Energy Sector who have a current requirement for an experienced Coating Engineer to join their established, site-based, Transverse Engineering Team in Bridgwater, Somerset. The successful candidate will comprise part of a wider, multi-national Joint Design Office team responsible for supporting Review and Acceptance of design activities of a classified plant. This dynamic and multi-disciplinary design team undertake the important intelligent customer role on behalf of the Project.

The Joint Design Office (JDO) has been created to reinforce site-based engineering to quickly respond to engineering queries/problems coming from site construction to deliver the schedule and to deliver an increased scope of work. Overview

• The post-holder will be a Coating Engineer, Coating Chemist, Chemical Engineer or Materials Engineer, contributing to the technical assessment of engineering queries raised by the site Contractor on the M&E coating scope across the CI/BOP and Nuclear Island buildings.
• The role will consist of both client and responsible designer activities.
• The role will be focused upon coating queries, non-conformances and coating optimisation - coordinating and leading the technical response for the client.
• The role will interface with other disciplines and with several parties, such as the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).

Key Responsibilities

• Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the MEH Contractor on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site Experts when needed.
• Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met.
• Support the integrated team with technical assessment of contractor queries
• Carry out nuclear safety and environmental assessment (categorisation) of queries

The Skills

• Typically degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline or experience in coating industry

The Role
