The Role
We are supporting a FMCG manufacturing site with the appointment of an Interim Engineering Manager to lead the site engineering function on a temporary basis. This role will take ownership of engineering performance, maintenance strategy, team leadership, and delivery of ongoing engineering and improvement activity.
The assignment has no fixed end date and will continue in line with business requirements. The successful interim will be expected to make an immediate impact within a fast paced, high speed manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide hands on leadership to the site engineering team, including multi skilled engineers and contractors.
Ensure engineering resource and shift cover supports a continuous operation.
Take ownership of preventative and reactive maintenance strategies across production and utility assets.
Drive rapid response to breakdowns, minimising downtime and production impact.
Lead root cause analysis and implement long term corrective actions.
Oversee ongoing engineering activity including equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning.
Manage engineering projects in collaboration with OEMs and external contractors.
Ensure full compliance with health and safety, food safety, and engineering legislation.
Lead risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
Work closely with Production and Quality teams to improve OEE, reliability, and line performance.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset registers, and schedules via the CMMS.
Manage engineering KPIs, budgets, spares, and contractor spend.
Provide clear performance and progress updates to senior leadership.
The Interim
Proven experience operating as an Engineering Manager or Senior Engineering Leader within FMCG or food and drink manufacturing.
Strong multi skilled engineering background with mechanical and electrical capability.
Experience with high speed, automated production lines and PLC controlled equipment.
Comfortable stepping into live environments and delivering impact quickly.
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and food safety standards including HACCP and GMP.
Confident leading teams, contractors, and senior stakeholders.
Delivery focused, pragmatic, and commercially aware.

The Role
