As a Data Reliability Engineer II, you will play a crucial, hands-on role in our global DRE team ensuring our critical database systems are reliable, fast, and scalable. Moving away from traditional, reactive database administration, our mission is to proactively maintain and enhance the reliability, integrity, and performance of our data footprint.
You will help manage a diverse, modern GCP data ecosystemspanning relational, NoSQL, and analytical platforms (with a focus on PostgreSQL via Cloud SQL and AlloyDB, alongside Spanner, Cassandra, Firestore, Bigtable, and BigQuery) - while ensuring smooth operations, performance tuning, and automated deployments.

Accountabilities
System Health & Proactive Incident Management: Monitor database system health and participate in a follow-the-sun incident response rotation.

DevOps, Provisioning & Automation: Provision databases and schemas according to application requirements.
Resilience, Data Protection & Security: Support the implementation of database resilience, backup, and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
Documentation: Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation related to data systems, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and field operations to ensure products-LV and/or HV-are buildable, serviceable, maintainable, and robust in real world energy environments.
Communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders to maintain alignment on risks, decisions, and impacts.
Essential Criteria
Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or similar discipline.
Proven experience delivering physical IoT devices integrating electronics, sensors, embedded firmware, and mechanical components.
Experience working with low voltage systems, high voltage systems, or both , ideally in the energy sector.
Strong understanding of system lifecycle processes including requirements analysis, architecture definition, integration, verification, validation, and risk management.
Deep knowledge of embedded/real time systems, microcontrollers, sensor chains, power systems, and hardware-software interactions.
Experience defining and managing complex hardware-software interfaces in LV and/or HV contexts.
Familiarity with IoT communication technologies.
Ability to perform system trade studies, failure analysis, and structured decision making.
Strong capability in producing system artefacts: architecture diagrams, behaviour models, test matrices, lifecycle documentation.
Experience with Agile or hybrid methodologies for hardware-software co-development.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and nontechnical perspectives.

They are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer (electrical bias) to provide an efficient maintenance service to production. The starting salary is £36,121 (38 hour week) which rises after a period of training on their specific machinery, plus paid overtime at time and a half so with minimal weekly overtime you can earn £40,000 - £45,000 p/a,hours are Mon -Thurs 8.30am 4.30pm and Fri 8.30am 2.30pm, 33 holidays,pension - company 4% and employee 5%, death in service £60,000, sick pay, private healthcare and subsidised canteen.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities
Lead, organise, and prioritise the daily activities of the maintenance team to ensure maximum equipment uptime and efficiency.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for bottling, filling, capping, labelling, and packaging machinery.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
Assist with installation and commissioning of new production equipment.
Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure high-quality output and compliance with specifications.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inventory of spare parts.
Ensure safety and regulatory compliance across all engineering activities.
Provide training, mentoring, and guidance to engineers, operators, and colleagues on equipment use and maintenance.

What Theyre Looking For
A degree, HNC, or HND in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline
Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role, with the ability to organise and motivate a team
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, ideally with PLC knowledge (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron)
Hands-on experience in liquid filling, bottling, or packaging operations
Familiarity with CMMS systems for tracking maintenance activities
Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and small-scale project management
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proactive, adaptable, and able to work independently when required
