In this role, you’ll focus on the development, implementation and ongoing compliance of the Station Safety Case. Working closely with colleagues in the Design Authority, Engineering and Operations teams, you’ll help ensure the safe operation of the reactors and that our safety documentation remains robust, effective and fully compliant.

Site Engineer
CONTRACT SCOTLAND LIMITED
Edinburgh
In office
Junior - Mid
Private salary

Site Engineer – Quality & Adoptions

East / Central Scotland | Multi-site role | Design & Engineering Team

Be the technical backbone behind infrastructure quality and successful adoptions across multiple live housing developments.

An established residential developer is seeking a technically strong, site-focused engineer to take ownership of infrastructure inspection, quality assurance and the structured close-out of developments through to adoption.

This role sits within the Design & Engineering team, reporting to the Engineering Manager — not site management — and focuses on ensuring roads, drainage, SUDS and external works are constructed correctly, signed off properly and successfully adopted by bodies such as Scottish Water and local authorities.

The Role

You’ll work across multiple live developments throughout East and Central Scotland, carrying out programmed inspections of groundworks and infrastructure, verifying compliance with drawings and standards, identifying defects early and ensuring remedial actions are closed out efficiently.

You’ll also lead the technical coordination of adoptions and handovers — from as-built records and testing through to vesting — acting as a key liaison between site teams, contractors and adopting authorities. Your work will directly enable smooth, compliant site closure and protect programme and commercial performance.

Functionally, this position allows senior engineering staff to focus on design development, approvals and value engineering, while you ensure delivery quality and orderly completion on the ground.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect groundworks, roads, drainage and SUDS installations across multiple sites
  • Monitor compliance with drawings, specifications and Scottish standards
  • Maintain structured inspection records, reports and photographic evidence
  • Support and review ITPs and key hold points for civils packages
  • Coordinate sewer, roads and SUDS adoptions through to vesting
  • Liaise with Scottish Water, local authority roads teams, Building Standards and factors
  • Drive closure of defects and non-conformances prior to adoption
  • Provide technical feedback to improve future design and constructability

About You

You’ll likely come from a background as a Site Engineer, Civil Engineer, Clerk of Works or Infrastructure Inspector within residential or groundworks projects.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong knowledge of housing infrastructure (roads, drainage, utilities, SUDS)
  • Experience in site inspection and quality assurance
  • Confidence interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of Scottish adoption processes (desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent organisation skills across multiple live sites
  • Full UK driving licence

HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering (or similar) is desirable.
