Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with an established engineering consultancy to recruit a Project Manager for a significant DSEAR compliance programme within a highly regulated utility environment. This is a 1-year contract with possibility of extension.

This role will involve overseeing the end-to-end delivery of DSEAR-related projects across a large, geographically dispersed portfolio of sites. Your new role as Project Manager (DSEAR)
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of DSEAR compliance projects, from assessment planning through to remediation delivery and close-out. You will act as the central point of coordination between technical specialists, consultants, contractors, and senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing DSEAR compliance projects across a high volume of operational sites.
  • Coordinating and scheduling DSEAR risk assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely completion.
  • Providing technical oversight and review of DSEAR assessment reports to ensure quality and accuracy.

  • Proven experience managing large-scale compliance or safety-critical programmes across multiple sites.
  • Experience coordinating high volumes of risk assessments and managing technical review processes.
  • A track record of developing and delivering remediation programmes.
  • Strong experience in resource planning, contractor management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage budgets and deliver projects to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills.
  • A proactive, structured approach to risk management and problem solving.

A formal project management qualification (PRINCE2, PMP, or similar) is desirable but not essential.

Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal CFD Engineer and help us deliver projects throughout the UK and internationally. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement with flexibility to work from home and one of our Reservoir Engineering hub offices - Edinburgh, Belfast or Leeds.

Heres what youll do:

  • Lead end-to-end 3D CFD modelling for spillways, energy dissipation structures, intake/outlet works, and other hydraulic infrastructure.

Analyse turbulent and transient flows, energy losses, cavitation risk, air entrainment, water-hammer effects, and scale interactions to inform safe, efficient designs.
Integrate CFD with physical model results (calibration/validation), translating insights into design optimisation and risk reduction.
Produce high-quality technical reports, visualisations, and client presentations for interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Serve as technical authority for hydraulic CFD within the dams & reservoirs team; uphold QA standards and best practice.
Mentor and guide junior modellers, fostering capability growth and knowledge-sharing across the practice.
Contribute to scope definition, proposals, and cost estimation; support business development related to CFD services.
Coordinate planning, execution, and delivery schedules across multidisciplinary teams to meet project and client requirements.
Undertake occasional site visits (e.g., surveys, data collection for model build/calibration). (Travel typically occasional; can flex to project needs.)

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of whats possible?

Heres what were looking for:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in civil, hydraulic, mechanical engineering or related field.

Chartered engineer status or actively working towards being chartered.
Significant experience applying CFD to hydraulic structures (dams, spillways, intakes, outlet works).
Proficiency in either Flow3D, OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent or other CFD software as well as complementary tools like HEC-RAS, ICEM CFD, Paraview, Rhino, Grasshopper or other pre/post-processing tools.
Demonstrated strength in combining numerical and physical modelling to solve complex hydraulic challenges.
Experience with analytical problem-solving, practical engineering judgement, and client-facing communication (reports, presentations, data visualisation).
Proven capability to mentor, enforce quality assurance, and deliver robust outputs aligned with regulatory and safety requirements.

As a Principal ICA Engineer in the D&AT practice, the successful candidate would have the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate or manage a team of Electrical & ICA engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex multi-disciplinary projects following relevant client and project specific design codes and standards, and to high-quality levels.

Successfully manage time and budgets of the Electrical & ICA team to key project milestones and programmes.
Responsible for leading and producing technical deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, Load Schedules, MCC specifications, Control Philosophies, and Control Network Architecture.
Provide technical input into project design deliverables for ICA aspects of complex multi-disciplinary projects and work with the project management team to successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
Collaborate with client, operational, project, or service activities within your immediate team and other related AtkinsRéalis teams.
Provide mentorship to less experienced colleagues and help to grow the Electrical & ICA capabilities within the local team and the wider Electrical & ICA technical network.
Work independently with minimal technical guidance. Exercise personal judgement to solve difficult problems where appropriate and provide guidance to junior team members.
Provide technical support for bid proposals.

About you
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
Proven experience in coordinating or managing an ICA engineering design delivery team for a design consultancy included within a multi-disciplinary environment.
Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to design problems.
Requires strong knowledge and practical experience in ICA designs.
Practical knowledge of water company design codes and standards as well as industry best practices, such as WIMES.
Good awareness of HAZOP assessments, lightning strike risk assessments, earthing and bonding, lighting designs, DSEAR and ATEX installation practices.
Proficiency in designing appropriate digital analysis packages, following local and national guidance. E.g. electrical design software such as Trimble/Amtech.
Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance.
Experience in the water market is preferred but not required.
Experience in industrial and process environments is essential.
Demonstrates strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively within diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
A proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to drive teamwork and share success across projects.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer REF: 2601

We are looking to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Energy, Utilities, and Renewables design team. The successful candidate will join an established team with senior support and will have the opportunity as their career progresses to lead high value and high complexity projects.

The Senior Design Engineer will have a client facing role.

An example of some of the responsibilities for the role as the business needs require are as follows:

  • Design & project management from conceptual phase through to project completion in the Energy and Utilities sectors in areas such as renewables (biogas, biomass, CHP, solar, hydro, industrial utilities), pipelines and installations (gas, oil, pharmaceutical, water, or wastewater).

Feasibility studies for power generation plants
Preparation of electrical technical designs & submissions.
Power System Studies, including load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination calculations.
Use of electrical software packages such as Dialux, ElectricalOM, Trimble, ETAP, etc.
Development of design drawings and specifications.
Design of ancillary electrical services including building distribution network, lighting systems, fire alarm, earthing and bonding, cabling systems, equipment schedules.
Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations. Participate in all phases of projects, from engineering to the procurement and construction.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders in project implementation to achieve project and company goals.
Carry out PSDP / Principal Designer role

The Senior Design Engineer will have the opportunity to progress their career within Fingleton White to be involved in the various business sectors to provide experience across a wide range of projects.

The location for this role will be in our Antrim office.

Requirements:

The Candidate.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Electrical engineering degree (Honours bachelors degree or higher), or a similar discipline relevant to the specification above

7+ years post-graduate and relevant design experience. CEng would be beneficial but not essential
Experience in the design and selection of equipment within Hazardous areas or suitable training (e.g. CompEx Ex12) would be beneficial
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Good academic record
Full clean driving license and own transport required
Fluent written and spoken English is essential
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
