What you’ll be doing:

• Working with System Engineers to help shape the CONOPS for future missions
• Identify and communicate spacecraft operations requirements and constraints for missions
• Support the delivery of internal and external milestone reviews for projects
• Develop, maintain and review operational procedures, including, but not limited to, flight operations handbooks, verification test procedures and spacecraft commissioning procedures
• Perform real time spacecraft operations during both routine and critical/anomaly investigation phases

Your skills and experiences:

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead the Branch’s contribution to delivering Nuclear Services task orders, ensuring strategic objectives are clearly defined and aligned with Nuclear Services, EPRE, and licensee goals. The Branch comprises multiple disciplines, including Radiological Consequences, Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA), Severe Accidents, Dosimetry, Shielding, Internal and External Hazards. The teams within work across the full breadth of the nuclear lifecycle. Priorities will be communicated effectively to ensure clarity and focus across the team. A key part of your role will involve influencing and negotiating with senior internal and external stakeholders to support successful outcomes.

You’ll develop and manage relationships with regulatory bodies such as the ONR, building trust and maintaining open, professional dialogue. Alongside this, you’ll oversee the Branch’s budget and cost control, ensuring accurate reporting and efficient use of resources. You’ll also be responsible for creating and delivering short, medium, and long-term (rolling 5-year) business plans to guide the Branch’s development.

You’ll actively seek out opportunities to grow and improve Branch performance while ensuring all activities are well-resourced and effectively managed. Who you are

You’ll bring strong knowledge of nuclear plant design—whether under construction, operational, or undergoing defueling within the UK—alongside a solid understanding of UK-specific legislative requirements, including Nuclear Site Licence Conditions. You’ll hold a degree in engineering or a relevant science discipline and be familiar with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.

You’ll have proven experience in leading teams and managing budgets, with the ability to guide projects through change in evolving environments. You’ll be confident working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams, able to assess a wide range of technical issues quickly, and make sound, evidence-based decisions. Your ability to clearly communicate strategic or project recommendations to senior leaders will be key to your success.

We are seeking a high-caliber Azure Architect to lead complex infrastructure transformations. In this role, you won’t just design solutions; you will govern the technical strategy, mentor a dedicated team of engineers, and bridge the gap between deep technical Linux administration and high-level Azure cloud architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Strategy & Assessment: Lead end-to-end On-prem/Public Cloud assessments using Azure Migrate. You will be responsible for understanding customer landscapes and designing robust Azure Landing Zones.
• Architectural Leadership: Develop High-Level (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents, including comprehensive target architecture diagrams and Bill of Materials (BoM).
• Migration Execution: Drive large-scale migrations of Linux-based workloads to Azure, ensuring solutions align with TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and ROI goals.
• Linux Mastery: Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Linux environments, managing kernel tuning, logical volumes, shell scripting, and advanced networking (bonding, bridging, and DNS).
• Security & Governance: Oversee Azure IAM, Key Vault, and general security protocols within a UNIX environment to ensure compliant and hardened architectures.
• Performance Optimization: Implement and tune high-performance web stacks using Apache, Varnish for caching, and HAProxy for load balancing.
• Team Leadership: Manage and technically govern a team of 5+ infrastructure engineers, providing guidance on root-cause analysis and complex troubleshooting.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience: 12+ years in IT, with at least 5+ years specifically focused on Azure Infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS, Networking, Storage).
• Migration Expertise: Proven track record using Azure Migrate and driving complex solutioning for banking, healthcare, or insurance domains.
• Linux Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Linux systems (OS restoration, daemon management, Postfix/SendMail, and file-based storage like NFS/SMB).
• Network/Security: Deep understanding of Azure Networking, SIAM, and data security.
• Troubleshooting: Expert-level ability to perform root-cause analysis on processor, memory, IO, and cluster-related issues.

Desirable Skills

• Automation: Familiarity with Configuration Management tools like Ansible or Chef.
• DevOps: Experience with Git, Jenkins, and scripting in Python, Bash, or Ruby.
• Modern Web: Hands-on experience with TLS termination and web traffic optimization.
