Job Purpose

This role is responsible for overseeing managing and execute the commissioning process of high voltage plant, apparatus and systems, ensuring that all installations meet design specifications, regulatory standards, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in verifying the functionality and performance of the HV systems prior to energisation.

The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience in HV substations (Solar, BESS ,ICP, DNO) with system voltages ranging from 11kV to 132kV, including maintenance and troubleshooting activities in these sectors.

The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics inspection and test plans (ITP’s), protection coordination studies is mandatory and a pre requirement for this role.

  • Site Commissioning: Travel (occasionally) to customer sites to commission, test, and sign-off the systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to design reviews and product development to improve system reliability and safety.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in electrical installation, automation, and ideally high security electro-mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical wiring, control panels, relays, sensors, and safety devices.
  • Knowledge of relevant UK/EU safety standards for electrical products and machinery.
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams (AutoCAD Electrical or similar is desirable).
  • Experience with FEIG controllers, PLC programming, industrial automation, or access control systems would be highly advantageous.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation.
  • Full UK driving licence and passport with a willingness to travel in the UK and Europe for site commissioning, training and troubleshooting.

What will you be doing?
Deliver complex control system projects from concept through to commissioning
