What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting MarLabs analysis tasks, identifying and scoping aspects of the technical support required to deliver the task, and supporting inter and intra-business discussions to facilitate this
• Providing Combat Systems expertise in support of the MarLabs Operational Analysis ensuring the analysis has the best (within reason and classification) representation and understanding of the performance and capabilities of the differing Combat System equipment
• Using personal experience to provide technical insights with regard to current and near-future capabilities in sense, decide and effect, specifically with any emphasis on real-world limitations and constraints, especially in the Maritime environment
• Supporting MarLabs modelling and wargaming activities at all levels, providing Combat Systems engineering subject matter expertise where appropriate
• Providing insight into typical combat platform operations and the application of various sense, decide and effect capabilities within this context
• Conduct targeted research to support MarLabs Operational Analysis, including enabling value-add engagement with academia and industry, addressing Maritime & Land sector knowledge gaps, and developing long-term (20–25 year) technology roadmaps to inform future capability evolution

Your skills and experiences:

• Degree-qualified (or equivalent) with relevant professional experience in engineering, defence, or combat systems
• Deep expertise in combat systems
• Robust engineering background underpinning the analysis, development, and integration of complex defence systems
• Ability to challenge established norms, draw on specialist networks, and apply innovative, inclusive thinking to problem-solving and solution development
• Strong experience engaging senior stakeholders, particularly customers, with a proven ability to build trusted, mutually beneficial relationships

The Role:

We currently have a vacancy for a Delivery Area Test Engineer Lead working on a flagship programme in the UK. The role will include responsibility for Planning, Development and Maintenance of test scripts and Test Reporting using both industry standard Manual and Automation test suites and custom developed frameworks. The testing process will follow a hybrid Waterfall and Agile development and release process that supports critical customer mission goals around National Security using manual and automated testing techniques and tools.

Responsible for conducting analysis of requirements and designs, and from this developing a risk-based test approach to provide test assurance in support of our change pipeline. Duties may include providing research and assistance with implementation of community policies and guidance.  Employees may also support business process improvements or systems analysis for missions, systems, and fiscal requirements

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team.

What will I be doing?

• Work independently, or with a team of software and systems engineers; must be knowledgeable in industry-standard testing tools and methodologies.
• Responsible for the creation of test plans, procedures and reports detailing the test process and infrastructure to appropriately assess that products/deliverables meet defined requirements.
• Responsible for briefing the customer on any Test reviews – TRR / TER and DRBs.

Working within a small, highly skilled automation team, you will take ownership of projects from initial specification through to commissioning and client handover. This role requires a technically strong, experienced engineer who can also mentor and guide less experienced colleagues, ensuring best practice software design and project delivery standards are upheld. The primary role is to support the helpdesk and infrastructure teams. Activities include building, maintaining and operating TUV SUD UK IT infrastructure as well as supporting the UK userbase. In addition, the successful candidate will work on other IT projects on the IT roadmap. This position will give the successful candidate an opportunity to work within a busy, professional IT department in a team environment as well as working directly with the various business areas within TUV SUD in the UK.

The role will be based in Fareham but travel to other offices throughout the UK may be required from time to time.

Essential Criteria:

The successful candidate will:

• Be currently studying for a degree in Computer Science or a similar IT based discipline
• Be a good communicator on a personal and written level

• Knowledge of Windows desktop and server administration
• Linux administration
• Active Directory user and group management
• Microsoft Office applications (including Word and Excel)
• Scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, VBScript)
